Located in Lincolnshire, Woodhall Spa Golf Club is revered as the National Golf Centre and the home of England Golf. Founded in 1891, it offers a distinct world-class experience centered around the legendary Hotchkin Course. Consistently ranked among the world’s best, this heathland masterpiece is famous for its natural beauty, cavernous bunkers, and a recent renovation by architect Tom Doak that restored its strategic glory. In contrast, the newer Bracken Course, designed by Donald Steel in 1998, leads golfers through woodland and arable farmland with generous greens and undulating terrain. The facility boasts one of Europe's most comprehensive academies and extensive short-game areas. The historic pavilion-style clubhouse provides a warm, traditional atmosphere.

Hotchkin World Class & Tom Doak

It's actually crazy that I'm the first to write a review about the 36-hole Golf Resort Woodhall Spa in the "central south-east" of England.
The 18L Bracken Course is beautifully designed as a country/woodland course in the Lincolnshire countryside. Nice 3.5 star place that would be one of the best places in southern Germany!
The 18-hole Hotchkin Heathland Course is one of the best I've ever played! This almost 120 year old gem of a golf course was completely redesigned by Tom Doak in 2020! Next to Ben Crenshaw, Tom Doak is probably the best golf course architect in the world, who is known for his absolute minimalism! That means that at Doak, like 100 years ago, the landscape and the terrain are the specifications, not a bulldozer!
Without changing the layout of SV Hotchkin, Doak adapted the course to the new lengths.
Woodhall Spa 'the Hotchkin' has always been in the UK top ten before! During our visit, unfortunately when the sky was closed, this heath course was absolutely world class!!! Ps.: The par 3 on hole 13 is hardly playable from the 5m deep bunkers! PW and submit :-)!
1 hour drive from Kings Lynn, worth every minute! From 3.30 p.m. Sundowner Fee £95, a bargain for this course...!!!
