We are repeating our first Ireland Golf trip that we made 22 years ago. This course was our first one we played back then. We can not remember that exactly, because the notes are short. Only the four holes - which get in each other's way - are remembered so much and in our estimation they should be the same.
It is a very old club, founded in 1884, played here on nine holes and over 100 years. Two years before our game, the new holes built by Patrick Marrigan were opened. He died in January 2016 73 years old.
It is a shallow - not too long - course with an amazing number of bunkers. The one and three are already crossing at the teas, the four crossing the five in the Drivezone. Four times you play the small river. Today - since it was almost dry - the course ring played.
Several greens are well undulating and strongly defended. These are great to play but not easy.
The course care is very good. A nice clubhouse with nice staff makes for a pleasant stay.
