What a course

I had the pleasure of being a member in Waterville in 1980-1981 and it remains one of my Top 3 courses in Ireland, the others being Ballybunion and Portmarnock. The back 9 is superb, most especially the par-5 11th, through the sand dunes, the par-3 12th (Mass Rock), and the finishing three holes that run along the shoreline. And it's an exceptionally friendly club. In fact, I went back there after 40 years to have something to eat in the clubhouse with some friends while we were driving around the Ring of Kerry and the Secretary/Manager, Noel Cronin, recognised me straight away. Not bad after 40 years. If you are lucky enough to play it on a sunny day you will love it.

Added. It was a wonderful day. Little going on. Bomb, absolute bomb with such specifications. Incredibly beautiful tracks with great nature. It was our luck to play the course like this. Unfortunately, the clubhouse is very worn and the club members are very busy with themselves...! You really are not welcome there!

I can only agree with the previous speakers... one of the finest links courses that I know of, but the high green fees diminish the joy a little! Nevertheless, absolutely play! A must see in Ireland!
