Third time unlucky.
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed September 14, 2017
As my title suggests this is my third year here and I hate to say how disappointed I was.
This course is an absolutely fantastic layout but cannot be excused for its condition. I'm guessing that the fairway watering was broken as they were parched and brown.
The greens which have been on the slower side in previous years have now been invaded by a broader leaf grass which ruins them.
Last comments are bar staff are 10/10, golf reception 3/10.
I love the place but was gutted by how it now is.
Fantastic and Disapointment

I played 5 times 22.11.16-29.11.16, weather was fine, partly cloudy or clear sky. Some days was windy 10 m/s.
Wonderful views from all fairways: Atlantic Ocean, Mount Teide, Teneriffe, palm trees, flowers...
Fairways were in bad condition, dry and no gras, greens were in very bad condition.
We were told that the course is full and there are no tee times left when we tried to move our tee time from afternoon to morning. We find out that almost all groups were "two players goups" . WHY??
Logistics between caddienaster, shutle and starter did not work and "sheriff" was not seen on the field to speed up the players.
Vaut le voyage
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed January 29, 2012
We played here on the 21 Jan 2012. Mainly sunny, some clouds, ca 18°, sometimes with cold breezes making me yearn for an arctic fleece. A clear day.
Our ferry from Los Cristianos arrived late at San Sebastian de la Gomera, so that were late for our tee time. No problem though: we could start as soon as we were ready. BTW: it takes a nice trip of about 40 minutes from San Sebastian to Tecina Golf through the mountains of La Gomera. Don't miss El Cabrito (Mirador del Sombrero).
This course is a “must”, provided the weather is clear so as to allow for the magnificent views. The course is very well landscaped, with tropical flowering plants, shrubs, and trees. There is a view of the ocean on all holes, and on the island of Tenerife and the Teide (the world’s third highest volcano) on half of the holes. The views are always spectacular, from the tees, the fairways, or the greens. The course is very pleasant to play once you have experienced that all holes slope towards the ocean, and that the semi rough is trimmed at 4,5 cm so as to provide for a perfect hiding place for your ball. The strong wind gusts may do tricks with your ball. Suggestion: before playing hole 10, go and have a look all the way down to the green; note down the distances, differences in altitude, and directions, and decide the strategy you are going to adopt. My first ball was lost to the left, my second (second shot with that ball!) in the shrubs in front of the green, which is situated well below the main part of the fairway … Oh yes, I had the stroke saver ;- (An extra plus: the staff is very customer oriented. My e-mails were replied to within half an hour. Registering, paying, transportation to hole #1, start, catering( yes: two bottles of water are included in the green fee), etc. were all handled very professionally. Nice little club house. For those who collect this stuff: logo balls, marker and stroke saver available.
Conclusion: this course is a “must”. In Michelin terminology: “Vaut le voyage”.

Condition of maintenance of fairways (certainly not easy to create given the ground and the occupancy)

The distance between flights is too short

Good staff, various restaurants (especially La Trattoria and Fandango)
Good breakfast
Our room with a view of Teide was also good

Weather & view - poor care!
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed December 16, 2023
Last week we took a day trip from Tenerife to La Gomera!
You can experience a great crossing with the fast ferry on the return journey across the Atlantic! The car ride from the ferry port to the Tecina golf course leads through a unique rock and palm tree landscape that can always be described as spectacular!
Checking in at the golf club is easy and friendly, you pay at the golf club, ferry & green fee & car (which is urgently required)!
It takes 5-10 minutes. steepest uphill to Tee 1! You then usually play across the lanes from top to bottom back to the clubhouse.
The views are beautiful of the blue Atlantic through and across the sea of palm trees! Lanes 8-11 bring a huge rock massif into view. The course is partly very easy to play and the layout thrives on the views.
Unfortunately, the condition was by far the weakest on our entire golf trip! Countless grassless areas and extremely slow greens and very poorly maintained tee boxes.
Normally a 3.5 star rating. The friendliness of the staff in the restaurant and in the pro shop and the quality of the drinks & food and the overall travel package got me 4 stars!
Unfortunately, the catastrophic state of care really spoils the Tecina golf experience! Nevertheless, I would recommend the day trip. We had 27 degrees and not a cloud in the sky, the bottom line was that La Gomera / Tecina Golf was 100% worth the trip!

When you come to La Gomera, you can hardly believe that such a beautiful golf course could have been installed on the volcanoes! The course is interesting for all classes and is operated sustainably with a seawater desalination plant.
The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
An absolute one with *.

3.0 of 5 starsReviewed November 2, 2023
We have been to the Tecina for the umpteenth time and expressly welcome the upcoming closure for the basic renovation of the rooms.,. everything is a bit old. The course urgently needs better care of the tees, the fairways were already very dry for April but the condition of the greens is subpar. You don't get a ball to hold on to and because the greens are mowed right up to the edge, the balls run out of bounds unhindered. Leaving the front green a little higher would be fairer.

We played the course around the turn of the year a total of 3 times at different times. Conclusion: In good condition, the pace of the game is also good, although it goes faster in the morning than in the afternoon. In my opinion, it is not very fair to rate the course badly because of a bad lap or experience. We recommend this place unreservedly. And yes: the view is definitely a plus!

Extreme lap times
1.0 of 5 starsReviewed December 4, 2021
I would like to agree with the positive statements about the system itself. I am happy to accept one or the other unsightly spot on dry fairways in a water-scarce region. Good for 4 stars
Completely unacceptable, however, lap times of up to 6 hours: If the start time is around 12:00 p.m., abort after lane 14.3 groups are delayed when teeing off on the first traffic jam, then immediately back to lane 2.40 minutes of playing time for 2 lanes. Endless waiting times.
The main cause is certainly a time gap between the groups of 4 that has been reduced from 10 to 8 minutes when the capacities are completely exhausted. Obviously, this doesn't work well with holiday golfers. 0 stars.
Red card for this system as long as this condition persists.

It's not just about evaluating the view
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed November 9, 2021
Yes, the view of the sea and Tenerife with its Teide are terrific, yes, the greens are well-kept, beautiful and fast, well undulating, but the rest is pretty disappointing.
The fairways where there is still grass are all sorts of grass or weeds, you often play the ball away from the bare ground, especially on the first nine holes. The impression is pretty unsightly if you don't just have the sea in view.
The ground is very hard, so the balls always jump down the slope, the bunkers are also not a feast for the eyes.
Therefor the staff in the secretariat and in the gastro are very friendly!

Great view
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed December 18, 2020
What do you want negative writing when you can golf under palm trees in December at 25 °? Since the square runs in serpentines from a hill down to the sea, you have a fantastic view of the sea from almost every point. In that regard, it's one of the nicest courses I've played so far.
Except for the 4 and 10, the individual tracks are rather unspectacular, but, as already mentioned, a fantastic view from everywhere. The fairways are partially dried out and on some southern slopes have almost disappeared. The greens were damn fast. I was able to get used to the speed over the course of the week, but even after 6 laps I still couldn't read the breaks properly. Both my wife and I see a break to the right, but the ball still goes to the left.
The service was also impeccable, both from the pro shop and from the gastro.
The associated Hotel Jardin Tecina can also be recommended without reservation.

Great golf hotel and great golf course. Is worth a trip.
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed December 14, 2020
Was there for the first time, but certainly not the last time. Both in the golf hotel and in the clubhouse on the golf course, very friendly, helpful staff. The rooms (row houses) have been super integrated into the landscape, the view from the balcony of the sea is a pleasure. The dinner offers EVERYTHING you could wish for, as it is in buffet form. Delicious products from La Gomera alternate with specialties from Spain (domestic).
The golf course itself, I can only write, should be played once, rather twice, in your life. Pure enjoyment, both the permanent view of the sea and, at some holes, a view of the Teide, just beautiful. Hole 10 is a dream. Depending on the HC, easy or a little more difficult to play. Only, golfing is almost a minor matter. The view is just beautiful. After golfing you can sit relaxed on the terrace, enjoy the view, the beer or the tapas. Finally, refresh yourself at the pool area. That was it.

5.0 of 5 starsReviewed September 23, 2019
We often played the course between August 15 and 30,2019. Beautiful place that presents itself in the summer as described in the many previous reports (mostly winter reviews). Many flowers and palm trees accompany you from 1 to 18 always downhill. Gigantic view of the sea and Tenerife - also the eye plays along. Nice clubhouse, very friendly staff, you feel welcome as a guest. In the summer hardly crowds, therefore no tee time. The green fee from May - September extremely cheap: 58 € with cart. Rental clubs in good quality. About the driving range you can be divided opinion: Putting and Chippingggreen very good. The deductions from the mats are not that great, although there are wonderful lawns behind them. If you look towards the end of the DR, then the whole thing looks a bit neglected. But please, what else should you water in the water shortage. DR for free. Stayed in the hotel Tecina, there is nothing to moan about. Conclusion: Perhaps one of the most beautiful places in the world.

The quality of the fairways and greens has improved massively compared to our last stay (2017) and was extremely good.

On our wishes regarding start times and partners was (as far as possible) very friendly consideration.

Insider tip for fantastic golfing
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed January 22, 2019
A friend recommended this golf trip. We are with the rental car of Tenerife by (jet) ferry (only 60 minutes) to La Gomera and then to the golf course. After we were brought up from the clubhouse to the first tea, we were flat. Wow - what a terrific panorama. We had the golf course and the Atlantic at our feet. Tenerife left with a great view of the Teide. We then played 18 holes serpentine down. Very relaxed, always time for a look at the plants and the environment. A beautiful round of golf, which can only be recommended. The whole golf trip (golf with ferry back and forth) is booked through the golf club.

Fantastic views
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed September 20, 2018
Summer offer and played in September: 95 € pp including ferry from Tenerife with car and green fee and buggy. that should not be missed. The view from La Gomera to the Teide only shows its true greatness. The reception in the clubhouse was very friendly, unfortunately in a hurry, at the start time a bit more space because our ferry ran out late.
The golf course offers spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and is really fun. Unfortunately we had 2 lame four-flights in front of us.
Deductions and therefore only 4 stars are available for the driving range (not used but from the clubhouse terrace right in front of the nose, which makes a sad impression) and the tea boxes, unevenly huppelig.
Conclusion: great day trip with beautiful views and golf fun.

Definitely worth a visit
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed January 16, 2018
I stayed in Tenerife in December 2017. For just under € 140 ferry plus green fee the trip to LaGomera was a good deal. Down from the ferry it was another 30 minutes to the square. Unfortunately it was not well signposted, so we ended up at the Tecina Hotel instead of the golf club. After registering in the pro shop, we had just 15 minutes left until the tee time. Problem: Tea 1, it is only once 10 minutes with the buggy uphill. And after the round there was still time for a quick beer, before returning to the ferry not to miss.
The course itself offers great views and some beautiful tracks - especially the 10 is one of the most interesting courses in the Canary Islands for me.
After the 9 there is a small halfway station with toilet and snack machine, also at the Proshop still free bananas.

It's fun, because especially the view is really fantastic. You walk or drive 18 holes downhill and has almost all holes ocean view and mountain in sight. Great for photos and swing videos with South Seas panorama. Sporty but only challenging when the wind comes. Otherwise, wide fairways and downhill, that of course, you can score good scores. The range fulfills its purpose for a vacation place. Proper training should be at home and not on La Gomera. We also liked the tapas and the singing bartender.. Gladly again

Do you have to have played
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed January 4, 2018
This course must have been played solely because of its sensational views and impressions. The place state must be somewhat in the background.
Overall, I found the space, considering the scarce resource water in this part of the island, but for perfectly fine. Have played in southern Germany during the summer of 2016 on poorer fairways and places that belong to the "Leading Golf Crouses". Otherwise, it is also true that the golfer is responsible for the condition of the fairways. The "non-repatriation" of divots also seems to be a common bad habit here. The greens were all fine, not necessarily the fastest but predictable. The holes are clear and difficulties well recognizable. In wind, the place can be directly athletic.
The driving range is indeed getting used to the impression, but for the purpose of practicing and wrapping perfectly fine. Please always observe the climatic conditions and the water theme.
Clubhouse and service friendly and accommodating.
Have the place currently played in late December.

Beautiful place - completely disinterested staff
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed July 30, 2017
I must say that I have seen the place in very good condition. I am still rather new in golfing and therefore do not have too many comparisons.
What I find quite a pity, however, are two things:
The driving range is in a fully downed state without any shadow donor, which one would surely need in the summer months.
The ladies at the reception show the customer such a disinterest that it is really impossible. I do not need a friendly greeting, but the willingness for a drink after a place round is already very limited.
OK, we have unlimited green fees in the hotelpackage, but we pay with it.
So place top, friendliness flop.

End of February 2017 the court again in a very good condition. This is the first golf course on which I was transported by shuttle to the start! Is also necessary because of the difference in height and distance. While playing from the top towards the sea down, one has little unangehme inclinations, except the ball runs over the Green down. Tactics is not important, just rather play the ball to the side of the slope. Fast, hard greens.
Of all the holes fantastic sea views. Beautifully colored shade.

Clearly: The place lives at the moment only by its great view of the Atlantic. We are actually the 3rd time here and have the system still keinmal experienced before in such a bad state care. Reductions as arable, fairways mostly brown, rough (?) Are without a blade of grass or Grasbüschelübersäät, Bunker whose boundaries are difficult to detect, so frayed edges, greens full of divots and holes which we have already recorded several days. Sorry, planners should again view their own promotional pictures and worrying. But what also? It is anyway full!

Have played the course on 18.10.2016 (Hcp-12.8) welcome the pro shop very nice. On green fee with Leihschlägersatz I paid € 86 as a guest at the Jardin Tecina. Discounted green fees because the greens were aerifiziert and how we would find sanded evil.
The practice facilities are limited, driving range with distance signs should not take it so serious one, I was with the 5 iron already above the shield 200. Because my flight partner use only a trolley, I gave up a cart, in retrospect a mistake.
A Birdiebook it was unfortunately, would have been partially good because the flight partner did not know the place.
The reductions were good, the fairways okay but the greens!
To play was the place well, you should never play too long and follow the inclinations.
The views were fantastic, I think of each path sea view.
Track 4 and track 10 are in my opinion the most beautiful holes.
Conclusion: Fantastic scenery, nice place, but do not play when would aerifiziert!

Beautiful views
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed April 11, 2014
"I'm in the wrong movie" thinks you when you first read the reviews here and second turns the car to small car park at the clubhouse. Right hand is partly behind trees and bushes hiding the driving range, at least in the area of perceived size of a football field is referred to as such. There you can beautifully play ping-pong, the narrow lanes for each tee are limited by stone walls on both sides, the ricochets is funny to watch. Us enough to hit a basket of balls it with the excellent Leihschlägersatz, otherwise it would be too little.
The key is anyway on the court and is in a good shot. The fairways were hellishly fast, the slope did the rest to the fact that some balls still really nice shots ride to the side rough. On the greens, the situation was similar. Most needed only a slight touch to the ball to miss a rich speed.
Southern vegetation (cacti, palm trees, banana trees) give the course a unique character, to hang down the sea, barren volcanic mountains of La Gomera on the other side and - in fine weather the views of Spain's highest mountain, Mount Teide on the neighboring island of Tenerife. These are in the square holes 4 and 10 as spectacular island greens are the greens on steep slopes. The loss of balls is inevitable.
It can be played back, sometimes you think you are, even though the tracks run parallel often alone on the court. Every now and then a sign where one wishes for the next one teeing off is to find, but otherwise everything fits perfectly.
Because of a tournament we had three days to wait until the court could be played, the staff was knowledgeable and friendly, the borrowing of racquets or trollies was no problem, water was available for free and is also advisable - even on cloudy days you realize the proximity to the equator.
The all in all scarce five hours stay at TECINA Golf Club have really paid off.

The most beautiful place in the Canaries.
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed March 21, 2014
The course was laid out on a former banana plantation and you can feel as a player, because all around are still perennials to find that exude a certain charm.
Never forget, where you have coming from...
The welcome in the small but nice in courts clubhouse was friendly and authentic. Similarly, one can call the course maintenance in January 14 perfectly.
It is ramped to Tee1 from club owners and plays downhill from there from now on. The course is playable for higher handicappers and has its visual appeal in the expression as a botanical garden and the grand panoramic view of the Atlantic, which accompanies a fortunately during the entire round.
The highlight is hole 10, which I would be the top 10 of the most beautiful fairways worldwide count.
From the elevated tee you have a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean, on the left of the fairway it's a good 200 meters downhill...
The challenge of the course is on the greens and there are also very good players can "buckle up". I would not call it unfair, but challenging, because very undulating.
Conclusion: If you do not pass one or the other "wrong speed" annoys putt, this place is an absolute recommendation!

Simple Club house with reception VERY nice and small but exceptionally delicious and inexpensive cuisine. Cheap and low cost beverages, the Rosado is recommended after the round.
The Uebungsbereich as the clubhouse until very original but basic enough about to embark with short distances. But nothing more.
The place is simple, the tracks are arranged parallel to each other and go over into each other so that tw worst slices can also be played. He plays also because usually only downhill but rather short offers a lot of ahs and ohs by incredible views of the sea and the brutal (4 hole - here you squint loose left 200 m deep in the ravine) environment. Many palm trees and blooming bushes to visually evaluate the whole thing, so there is a fairly well-kept visually perceived as a highlight square bottom line, despite the bumpy and slow Gruen should allow it to play once again be HC.
