Characteristics
Established in 1924 near Sheffield, Stocksbridge Golf Club offers a distinctive golfing test set high in the Pennine foothills. Located over 900 feet above sea level, the course commands stunning 360-degree views stretching from the Peak District National Park to the Lincolnshire Wolds. Although relatively short by modern standards with a Par of 66, this upland heath course is deceptive and challenging. Golfers must contend with the elements, particularly the wind, and navigate tight fairways where a flat lie is a rarity. Small, island-style greens demand precision over power. A standout feature is the 16th hole, widely considered one of the toughest Par 3s in Yorkshire. The club is renowned for its friendly, sociable atmosphere, featuring a welcoming clubhouse and a modern indoor swing room with simulator technology for year-round practice.
