Characteristics
Designed by John D. Harris and established in 1966, Shannon Golf Club has matured into one of Munster's premier inland courses. This championship parkland layout, which has hosted legends such as Seve Ballesteros, is characterized by fairways lined with spruce and mature evergreens. Golfers face a stern test particularly at the 17th, a long par-3 spanning a marsh, before concluding on a strategic par-5. The clubhouse restaurant offers panoramic views of the final green, rounding off the experience in County Clare.

Played in September 2022 before departure due to the close proximity to the airport.
The very arrival was a shock as we stood in front of the most run-down clubhouse I have ever seen on a golf course.
The course itself features beautiful mature trees; but the tracks are very similar, not very varied and therefore monotonous. The fairways hadn't been mowed in days; the bunkers are not filled with sand but with earth and stones.
Air traffic often gives you the feeling of standing directly on the runway.
The experience was even topped when we asked the gentleman from reception for towels after the round and he referred us to the bar ( "hopefully"). At the bar we were told that you should bring your own...☹
To demand the stately green fee of 100 euros for this defies description.
