I read the book on the history of Hoylake and I can see why they gave it the name 'Mighty Winds Mighty Champions'. This course is tough and subtly brilliant, it may not look spectacular at first look, but when you get to play it a few times, you can really see why it took Tiger Woods all of his strategic genius to win the '06 Open. When the wind gets up and the rough is in play, 80 feels like a brilliant score. I can't wait to play again once the latest changes are finished, I can only see it getting tougher.
