Located in South Croydon, Purley Downs Golf Club offers a distinctive golfing experience defined by its elevation and history. Established in 1894, the course was laid out by the legendary J.H. Taylor in 1904. It is a classic downland layout built on chalk subsoil, ensuring excellent natural drainage and firm, fast conditions year-round. Sitting 500 feet above sea level, the course provides magnificent panoramic views across the capital, spotting landmarks from the City to Wembley Arch. The undulating terrain and links-style turf demand strategic play. A notable highlight is the signature first hole, widely regarded as one of the finest opening par-3s in golf. The century-old clubhouse, overlooking the 18th fairway, completes the traditional atmosphere.
