Characteristics
Founded in 1904, Pontefract & District Golf Club offers a historic golfing experience in West Yorkshire with a notable architectural pedigree. The course is deeply rooted in tradition, featuring a layout originally drawn by the legendary Dr. Alister MacKenzie. Although re-routed in the late 1990s, the design retains the famous architect's philosophy, particularly evident in the large, undulating greens that demand precise putting. The gently undulating parkland course offers a fair test for all abilities, with the 16th hole standing out as the signature challenge. Facilities include a fully refurbished clubhouse with a relaxed atmosphere, a well-stocked pro shop, and a covered driving range for warm-ups.
