Paradise Lake & Golfe Resort

Rodovia Engenheiro Cândido do Rego Chaves, 4500 - Jundiapeba, 08750-970 Mogi das Cruzes, Brazil

Characteristics

This 18-hole golf course is set within a resort with 245 rooms, a spa, an event area and a lake for water sports. The most outstanding hole is number 2, a par 3 with an island green. But there are other interesting challenges, such as the 12th hole, a 491 yard par 5 where golfers find on their left a sugarcane field, white stakes marking out of bounds, and bunkers; on their right, there is a lake. In other words: hit it straight or… hit it straight! After the game, relax on the porch of the hotel, which has a magnificent view over the lake. You may also have a pleasant session of relaxing massages at the Homare Spa. The course is open to visitors.

Nicest course around São Paulo

I've played Terras de São José, Fazenda da Grama, Vista Verde, and São Vicente, but this is my favorite course near São Paulo. The views are truly beautiful. The water around the course has been used to great effect, both aesthetically and in service of the game. The course is both challenging (at times very) and fun. Also very doable on foot.

Another plus is that access is easy, and your GPS should get you there without a problem.

The only drawbacks I've found so far are:
1) the driving range: it's not very well kept. The grass was dead when I went and I basically had to hit off the sand. It's also on a downward slope, so you lose some reference of how far/well you're hitting
2) other players are not friendly. Of all the courses I've played, the folks here are the least friendly. You may encounter people trying to pass you, and they're not courteous about it. They may not ask you nicely

Still, it's definitely a worthwhile experience, especially if you're a mid/low handicapper and don't NEED to hit a lot of balls to warm up.

Alexandre, the gentleman to whom you pay the green fee, is very helpful and courteous.
