Characteristics
The North West Golf Club is a fine links course located between the coastline of Lough Swilly and the picturesque Mouldy Mountains. Designed by Thompson at 6,239 metres with a par-70 and a standard scratch to match. The holes are varied, with many sandy knolls and undulating lies, but a generally flat. The club boasts a modern, newly refurbished clubhouse, with bar and excellent catering with wonderful views of the "Lake of Shadows" to the devil's backbone of the Killalla Hills. It has a proud history in Irish golf as being one of the founder members of the GUI and producing winners of the Irish Open Champions and International Captain of the Irish Amateur Team. Playground, lots of street noise
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed August 2, 2025
Relatively easy links course (you can find your balls again) without any major highlights.
Some nice courses by the sea, average greens.
The constant noise from the passing road is disturbing.
You can play, but there are more worthwhile courses in the area, especially because the green fee is EUR 150.00
is unreasonably high

Update September 2023
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed September 8, 2023
The green fee is now €60. But that's okay: the place is well maintained and clearly signposted. Beautifully landscaped and not as difficult to play due to the wide fairways as some other links courses. The only drawback: the constant noise of the busy R238 to Derry, which accompanies most trains.

Natural Course oceanfront!
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed November 27, 2016
My first Golf Course in my Ireland vacation. Windy, flat to experience very nice club members and a good start Ireland. I enjoyed the round of golf, the place itself is not difficult but must on the wind and can be used here well. Very inexpensive and therefore very appropriate for the golf experience. A very old club in Ireland. I keep him very much in mind.
