Characteristics
Situated in the countryside near Wheathampstead, Mid Herts Golf Club presents one of the few remaining acid grassland and heathland courses in the region. Although established in 1892, the 18-hole layout was significantly defined by five-time Open Champion James Braid in 1923. The course is characterized by its natural, rippled fairways, fescue grasses, and quick greens protected by traditional grassy hollows. Beyond the sport, the site is an ecological haven managed in partnership with the Wildlife Trust, supporting species like red kites and tawny owls. The experience concludes in a relaxed clubhouse, where a dining room and patio offer panoramic views of this historic golfing landscape.
