Characteristics
The new 18-hole links course of the Marine GC with its heath and dune landscape seems to be drawn into Sylt's nature. Now, 77 for the most part deep bunkers, heavily wavey greens and imposing dunes characterise the 80 ha large estate, which enriches Sylt's golfing landscape with a true, sportive challenge. Part of the high standard is also the completion of the clubhouse in 2008.

Links golf between the Wadden Sea and Sylt airport

Played on September 21,2023. According to the address on Sylt, the 18-hole course (PAR 73) is located in the municipality of Tinnum, directly behind Sylt airport. Every now and then a plane lands or takes off, but that doesn't bother us. The course is called a links course, is only separated by a road and is located almost directly on the Wadden Sea and has the usual pot bunkers. The rough was mown quite short in our game and the dunes are rather low. Everyone can decide for themselves whether it is a real link or not. There are a few water hazards in the form of small streams that run through two or three lanes. You can see the sea here and there from one or two elevated tees, otherwise the course is flat. The fairways are open. You should take the wind into account and then the place shows its teeth. The length of the course, especially from the women's tees, should not be underestimated. Visual tee boards at the tees make orientation easier. The condition was very good, especially the greens were fast and true despite aeration. The game was manageable on a windy but sunny Thursday morning. Tee times can be booked online via the homepage. The standard green fee in high season is €95, which is in line with the general prices in Sylt, but is still cheaper than in Budersand. If you tee off by 9:30 a.m. you can play for €10 cheaper and you can also get a sundowner. The starter in her starter house right at the parking lot was nice. The actual clubhouse, the pro shop and the restaurant (not in use) are a few meters away from the parking lot behind the driving range. I can recommend the round at the Marine Golf Club. However, the place doesn't quite come close to Budersand.

Yesterday, in beautiful weather, we decided to play our first 18-hole round on the links course at the Marine Golf Club.
The reception in the clubhouse was extremely pleasant, the lady booked us in spontaneously, gave us a good introduction, explained to us where we could rent trolleys and showed us the beautiful sun terrace for the break after the round.
We were also given a very friendly welcome in the pro shop and were given our rental trolleys. The driving range is located directly in front of the pro shop, and it is only a short distance to the putting green and starter house.
The course is in very good condition, the bunkers are taking their toll and the view of the Wadden Sea from number 14 lets you know that you made the right decision to play at the Marine Golf Club today.
After a nice round, we received a very friendly welcome from the restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by the selection of dishes.
Our recommendation is to definitely try the Marine Bistro!
All around very nice and friendly people, a beautifully maintained course and a great golf experience.
We will be back!

After we didn't see any information on the website or on the course that dogs were not allowed on the course, we went to reception with our golf-experienced and perfectly behaved pug and purchased our green fee. On the square we were then pointed out in the most aggressive way by a member that there was an alleged ban on dogs. After we politely pointed out that we were neither aware of this ban nor had our dog been referred to in the clubhouse, the old man began to insult and threaten us. We left the place stunned. Because this experience wasn't enough, the secretariat of this golf club called me the next morning on my private number, which I never gave, only to attack me aggressively and, without letting me speak, to wait for an explanation, to send me off then end the conversation immediately. I have never encountered such aggressive behavior and such vulgar behavior in almost 20 years on golf courses around the world. I am speechless and can only vehemently advise against this place. One star is still too many. Waste of money and a wonderful day on Sylt.
