EXCELLENT COURSE

You arrive next to the power station but do not let that put you off it equals anything which Pattaya has to offer every hole is different with a couple of par 3's protected with water the open coal mine is amazing and blends in well with the surroundings Greens are very undulating and helps with the local caddies all distances are in Yards and the GPS watch confirmed yardage if this course was in England you'll be paying above the £150 per round mark very well manicured i played 2 rounds in a cart and walked one round due to heat and depending on player i prefer to walk but due to some steep climbs it may be better to use cart first round you pay 500 bahts (£12) for round and 200 bahts (£5) for caddie you tip caddie about 300 bahts (£7) 1000 bahts in total the course has food facility very cheaply priced i think the power station runs the facility we just turned up to play with no need to book i will be returning to this course when i return as its 1 1/2 hours from were my wife lives

It is early August and the temperature topped out at 30 Celsius. Mae Mo is about 30 minutes drive from the centre of Lampang. The course is on the grounds of the Mae Mo open cut laterite mine and thermal power station. It is a great course; up and down, some short holes some long; good bunkers and water hazards. It is in very good condition. There were very few players but it may be more popular at the weekend.
The caddy was ok but very ittle English - only Thai. I walked for 9 holes and then used a cart; the golf was so much better.
Don't be put off by the mine/power station, they do not intrude on the course ambience.
The pro shop is closed closed - a lack of customers I think, but the restaurant and bar were open.
A most enjoyable day for less than THB 1000.
