Challenging

Spain golf vacation 2/5. Coming to Costa del Sol to play some good courses. In order to use our Golfhaftet card wisely we choose to play this course and it was great decision. We had one of the first tee times so we had nice view from parking lot and restaurant terrace which is really beautiful. Checking here and booking was very simple and fast. Staff is very helpful, pro-shop is very well equipped. Training areas like in most of Costa del Sol courses are just few steps from clubhouse. Opening hole is nice par 4 downhill, the other holes will open in the valley. Front nine is very challenging and course is not easy to play even if its not too long but fairways are very narrow and green quite small. Back nine were much more exciting for me with more nice views and interesting shots than front nine. Signature hole would be hole number 13, also 14 is very nice. Quality was as I expected, I would only decrease rating for uneven tee boxes and many blind shots. I did not score well but I love it here and would definitely come again and price charged is fair.

YES! Great Views & Great Golf!

This is definitely a beautiful course. Challenging no doubts but worse the effort. Well maintained, fast greens, great scenery with partially spectacular views.
The service from the team was very good and friendly. It was a fun round and we enjoyed a drink afterwards still enjoying the views.
Highly recommended.

Very interesting

From narrow to wide, open and absolutely tricky, everything is there. I just find the place really interesting. I would play again and again.

Well, it was better

The current course status

Tees: Still too heavily cambered. Also often put short, although that was worse.

Fairways: Quite decent, especially after several days of rainfall, not too hard and definitely some grass on it.

Bunker: Very heavy sand - also, but not only, because of the rainfall.

Greens: Unfortunately very inconsistent in terms of speed and line fidelity. However, pleasantly "biting" - which means that you can usually repair a few holes from the previous players...

Game speed as always -> in the morning you are there in 3:00 (2 flight with trolley), after that it takes somewhere between 4-5 hours.

The greenkeepers were also more considerate and, above all, communicated much better. They seem to enjoy starting the engine mid-swing and “following” a flight over multiple holes.

Course in good condition

My 6th review in 12 years. The course is currently in excellent condition, although you wouldn't necessarily expect this from the visual impression. But the fairways are easy to play and the greens "bite" really well, so that you can attack the flag wonderfully with high balls. The discounts, however, could be better. On the one hand, it would be great if they were somewhat original. On the other hand, it has a lot of cambered, uneven tee shots.

And yes, the course is particularly suitable for players who have a certain level of precision. Otherwise, Los Arqueros will quickly turn into a ball-swallowing monster.

I can't say much about the pace of the game this time. We were the first flight early in the morning and the two of us got around very well with an e-trolley in 2:55. However, only really trained players are advised not to use a cart ;-)

Only fun for good players

Well-kept golf course, but players with a high handicap (from about 15) have to play very carefully. Fairways often very narrow and the landing zone of the tees sometimes not visible from the T-Box. This causes stress and the insecure golfer then plays even worse than he actually could. It's better to hit off with fairway wood or even irons, but stay straight. If you hit a slice or hook, the ball is usually lost and it's not fun. But if you have a straight tee shot and can deliver it under pressure, you will enjoy this course. It offers a lot of variety, beautiful surroundings and also a certain challenge that a golfer should be looking for (fairways and wide motorways are no fun either). Definitely play with buggy. A lot of inclines. Only three stars because of the great difficulty for average golfers.

Maximum 4 stars

Tight space, so take enough balls with you. If I had "granted" myself the white tees from yellow, it would have been smarter, especially if you're playing here for the first time.

Fairways okay, bunkers too, greens a bit slow. Unfortunately, the grass on the white tee boxes was relatively high.
The layout and the arrangement of the fairways have been maximized, which is why some of the fairways are very challenging due to the narrowness.

Always worth a round

You should factor in a buggy, even if the prices are even higher in March 2023... Golfhäftet cards are accepted without any problems and a 10-card card costs €94 including buggy per round. The condition is very good and the greens are significantly faster than a year ago.
In terms of fun and value for money, the course is in the upper league around Marbella.
Above all, precision is required here, otherwise the score is quickly ruined.

But no matter, a nice place and in good shape for the beginning of March. Not overcrowded.
The starter was great. interesting tracks,
the first lanes narrow and demanding, the back 9 wide and clear. All in all a very nice day of golf with fantastic views. Value for money via Golfhäftet

Very good condition, always a top place

As always when we are in this area we played Los Arqueros and as always we were not disappointed. The design is great, the condition is very good, plus super fast and faithful greens. the price of 85 € including buggy is absolutely okay.
If anyone is in the mood for a sporty and great course, Los Arqueros.

We liked it very much. Course is demanding. Some very narrow fairways, but those who love a challenge will feel at home here. Course condition was great, very well maintained and fast greens. If you are not good on foot, you should definitely take a cart. Very hilly. But it is pointed out. staff was very friendly. Food in the clubhouse was very good. Price-performance TOP

Interesting challenge and not overcrowded

Played on 3/5/2022. The 18-hole course is located above the AP7 motorway in the hills between Marbella and Estepona. You play a few lanes below the residential complexes built on the slopes or above. Nevertheless, it is quiet and the buildings do not disturb directly. It's a good idea to take a cart as there are some elevation changes to negotiate. The tracks were created as PAR 71 by Seve Ballesteros. The level of difficulty is relatively high, as there are some lanes that are narrowed by real water hazards or canyons. Strategic play is called for and the driver should stay in the pocket here and there, otherwise there is a risk of losing the ball. Higher HC should choose the front tees. There are also blind shots and a good number of bunkers coming into play. The greens are fast and often imperceptibly undulating. Due to the location, there are always elevated tees with great views of the landscape and there are also one or the other sea view. Despite the safety net, you are a bit under fire from the driving range on the first lane. On track 7 there is also the historic Torre and a wild boar trap to see for the first time. The condition was basically okay, even if one or the other fairway had a few bald or brown spots and one or the other tee was a little worn. But the greens were perfect and the bunkers with fine sand were well prepared. Game operations on a sunny Saturday afternoon were manageable. The two of us were able to start playing immediately at 3 p.m. and didn’t run into any flights until 6 p.m. The regular green fee of €99 in the high season is okay compared to other facilities in the region. Anyone who books a start time online will receive a discount. From 3 p.m. there is a sundowner for €82 incl. cart. The clubhouse with a large ProShop makes a good impression, the staff are friendly. The carts (without GPS) are new and there are two small bottles of water for the round. There are two restaurants and even a bowling alley in the clubhouse. After the round we ate something else on the terrace with the gas fireplace in the back. The food was good, inexpensive and the service quick and friendly. If you don't expect a flat noble meadow and love a challenge, you've come to the right place.

Definitely worth it

I don't understand some of the reviews here. My wife (HCP 23) played here today (02/14/22) 39 net points and I (HCP 17.0) at least 36!
The condition of the place was very good, the greens a bit slow, but ok. The price-performance ratio with 80 € including buggy for the area was very good.

Lanes are tight, especially 1-9, but fair. Of course there are also slopes at mountain sites, but especially single digits should be able to appreciate that! The peripheral development is very appealing and some have spectacular views of the gorges and the sea.

A very interesting, challenging course that requires course management, but is a lot of fun. Has more parkland character, with many palm trees, little water. You should be able to play straight, maybe use a shorter iron...

I would definitely recommend a buggy, then you can enjoy. If you are very fit and have an e-trolley, have fun!

An absolute recommendation for this area around Marbella, where sometimes moon prices are demanded. The gastro with typically grumpy service, well, you can leave it.

Chameleon - from the good side

Los Arqueros really lives up to its reputation. At the moment from the good side. The course design is and will remain exciting. Right now the fairways are very appealing compared to many other courses in the area. While other places have concrete lanes, grass can be found here in many places. Not everywhere, but at least mostly.

The greens are also convincing. They are pretty much the same speed on all 18 holes and for the most part in good condition. Los Arqueros is fun in a purely playful way.

Another issue is the pace of the game. Whereby there is a lot of activity on all courses on the Costa del Sol between Christmas and New Years and therefore fast play is more wishful thinking. Again, no marshal ensures faster pace. Our solution: We go with a trolley. So we only ran into the pre-flights at hole 9 and had a decent pace at least on the first nine holes.

Pity! Place condition bad

I played this course for the last time 10 years ago, back then with handicap 23 and remembered it as a ball swallowing machine. Today with HCP 9 I had to give myself that again.
Arqueros is currently rated 4 * on this platform. This means that the visitor would be able to expect something like Valle Romano, Los Naranjos, Santana, Rio Real, Calanova, Aloha and others in this class. It is definitely not the case.

The course (or especially the first 9) is interesting, tight and difficult to play and requires tactical play, no question about it. You can / have to do that in order to play your score to some extent here.
The place is (compared to the mentioned places) today July 2021 in a bad condition. T-boxes and fairways partly badly mowed or even without grass, only land (I played white).
The 2nd 9 are def. in better condition. Nice clubhouse and staff.
Due to the available space, I will give the space a maximum of 2 to 3 max. I have mentioned good alternatives in the 4 * range.

Great experience but really tight

Played in May 2019; Course condition very good; Staff friendly and helpful. I can confirm the previous reviews, who is not straight, will have to bring a new ball on every hole in the game. Nevertheless, the course is good to play and is very varied. I never got bored the whole lap. For the cheap green fee compared to the other places at the CdS, this place is absolutely a recommendation, you get a lot for little money.

Best Place

We, Hcp. 9 and 10, played the course today. Quality is great, fairways very good and greens pretty fast. Can not understand Van Bengel's statement that fairways are unfair. The place is certainly not easy to play, strategic game is very important. With Trolley, especially the last two holes are still a challenge. Otherwise, just nice to play. do the washing up.

Really demanding but very nice

We as guests (Hcp 18 and 25) like the place (!!!) played several times.
This in advance!
We will gladly come again.

Next time with E-Trolly.
The use of a buggy does not speed up the game here, the applicable 90 ° rule only leads to unfortunate curve around (I even prevented it from getting in between times "down").
Other players with E-Trolly were significantly faster, but to wear the bag or to use a simple trolly it needs a good physical condition and a very good condition.

The course is sporty very demanding, you almost always downhill or -auf, many narrow lanes with a clear cross-slope, very often on one side of the steep slope upwards (dense shrubbery), on the other side steeply downhill (water, bush, rocks). Finding balls or playing them out does not waste any thought on that.
Lakeballs are plentiful and cheap to buy in the area.

As you know, humans grow up with their tasks, and for me, I had my doubts in the meantime. With every lost ball I cursed and there was a danger that the good mood will be lost.

We met several club members (Hcp 10 or below) who said that the course was not only difficult, but partly unfair. The balls land in the middle fairway, everyone sees this and still the balls remain untraceable.
Other guests (high and low Hcp), who come back every year to play here, have confirmed this to a large extent, also that one can count on 10 rounds per round.

Nevertheless - it seems to be like this:
ALL PLAY HERE AGAIN

Excellent! But a challenge

Luckily the starter sent us (2er Flight) to the 10 for the start, otherwise we would have needed about an hour more behind all the 4er flights. Place is a challenge, there are 2 holes where you have no idea where to play and with the cart better times to go forward to look. Cart is recommended, although not mandatory for good pedestrians.

Good quality again

In contrast to my review from last September, I can now report again of beautiful fairways with neat grass and quite reasonable greens. The rains of the last weeks let the grasses sprout, so that it is visually and playfully a pleasure. The pace was quite passable on the three rounds of March.

Condition modest

My third assessment within six years: Currently very modest condition of the course. A part of this can be explained, since in September the summer heat of the past weeks has a natural effect. Nevertheless, flat tea boxes can also be offered at this time of the year. With the greens the error is 99% with the players. Pitchmarks everywhere - that does not work. A pooh the "behind" of these souvenirs. The place was not overpopulated - nevertheless, we had to play the holes 6-8 twice, in order not to have to stand constantly. Ok, we arrived at 3:45 through (21 holes), which is not bad. Greenfee 115.- incl buggy for two people is ok, but is a bit relativized.

Beautiful Place

I have played this place for the first time in our golfing holiday in Andalusia this year. I found him very beautiful. The condition was good, the green fee relatively cheap. 2 GF + Buggy 115 € when booking online.

Ballestero's places can be unfair, I found this difficult, but good punches were also rewarded. With some holes, space can help.

We will play him again next year.

Real challenge

I have now played a few times the place and certainly not the last time.
The first 9 are already difficult to handicap should not think you, lanes sometimes very narrow. But it is not what makes the challenge.
For the first time, must not be disappointed, the second time it will be much better, Condition very good, the greens were unfortunately full of pitch marks (lack of etiquette !!).
The balls that you lose, you can buy back the fence!!
19th hole we like to stop off, quality and value for money very good.

Personal bankruptcy due to increased turnovers

So the court would already beautiful and spectacular... because if one could play golf (23.9). Golfers of all levels with HCDP> 30 I recommend: get rested, fit and with enough balls here. This is a place with many challenges. I pulled admittedly a bad day, but still: The place is a constant challenge. Notabene in very good condition. With some spectacular holes. Unfortunately I exercise after hole 13 canceled, on the one hand because I a) would soon anyway assumed the balls and b) we at hole 10 a new Asian threesome Flight was placed in front of the nose (is not). Either way: A place for guys, not for cowards, and a must in Andalusia!

Old school...

Friendly welcome, excellent fairways, greens best, not quite as swift as an arrow as in la cala but that is more meaningful for the bogey golfer given the "watch glass" structure. Individual tracks are pretty close reciprocally incorporated for reasons of space as it gets in the 50s, 60s of the 20th century has often made. On hole 2 (par 3) must be cut off when the Earth Vorflight has reached the 3rd tee and that's more comfortable with that.
Teiweise insane height differences make it yourself on par4 holes that are difficult to achieve long from yellow keine300m with the 2. The Green. The place is easy to gerated because rel short but tw VERY closely. Never push Driver and safer Hölzchen suppose, as we have the very nice starter advised. Ball Erwiese done differently. But he is an extraordinary and really good place. Handsome clubhouse with pleasant terrace. We had to complain REALLY nix!

We (hcp 4 and 11) have read about Seve's revenge and accepted the challenge. Anticipation was said, too bad it is not. End February we have reserved a green fee online and receive on arrival check into our buggy. Beautiful area, squeezed between old, noble and something in the residential areas. So one can play on the mat Range no wood. It's So less than 6000m. already on white, despite the starter Note that this actually Pros are reserved... 3 wood, 9 iron and the first par is listed. It starts quite friendly, but from the 7 quite narrow and towards the end Seve probably run out of space. But despite that it plays in the valley within settlements, which hardly bothers. The condition was end February average to good, due to the favorable green fees but can be more safely go.

Very nice place to say, not without justification Seve's revenge...

First week in February, we played (HCP7 + 9), even back lot Argueros. Straight away, if you know the place a little, he plays much more easily... last Jahr's at the first time, was it really difficult.
To place state again very good, fast Grün's good fairways, all in all, good to very good Condition. The course is largely in a valley between cottages in Spain so as usual, but even so offers great views of the sea. The tracks are very varied, the place always, also because of the favorable Grenze's, (56 € Incl. Cart) is well filled. Time in 4 Flight 4:15 hours.

If it was just a little faster forward...

On the square itself, there is also nothing wrong this year. Design and quality is top of the holes. Narrow paths alternate with wide holes. Every hole is a new challenge. Actually all good - if merely the speed of play would be a little faster. Probably pull the favorable conditions to those players who have their work cut on this place. THe following flights this must probably or accept. Instead of four hours, the round then takes a good five or more.

But beautifully laid narrow fairways, old tree / shrub cover where you find no more ball! :-(. Splendid views of the valley and the sea! Ball sellers locally, you should take advantage of, I've left my 8 balls.
E-Car is an advantage... However, PLEASE always be guarded with a golfer... it is not all over the viewfinder are in the bushes!

Great scenery - but the space is fierce!

Maybe I'm doing the wrong place, but we played it today and left with mixed feelings.

My wife and I are sporting golfers with handicaps of 6 and 16, and just for me of the yellow square was to play ungrateful.

In order not to be misunderstood: the place is nestled great in the mountainous landscape around Benahavis, the tracks are very creative and the condition of the course was 1a. The rating of the system is so low that you can hardly get extra beats that at least I would have felt despite regular game but used the dozen. Say: I felt the lanes 7 to 14 as a heavy hammer. The rest is comparatively easy. The fairways of the tracks 7-14 are little more than 30-40m wide and forgive any mistakes. On both sides of the valley is off or... Even if conservative tees off with iron and hits it on the par 4 is still more than 140m into the green, and unfortunately the game is not wider track, behind the greens down into the valley and the greens are exquisitely covered with bunkers...

I will not bore you with my experiences to the reader. One more thing at the end: Unfortunately I saw only at the par-3 16 the Spaniard, who sold according to other reports balls... I would have liked to have met him at level 6 and bought a bag... Now he can the next lucky my beloved Pro V1 sell a bag with (former) ...

Spectacular and varied

A very nice, well kept place in two valleys with exciting tracks - each one a pleasure in itself. Very varied, with many tracks spectacular discounts and great views. The terrain is very hilly, but with buggy problems. Many canyons come into play. Right and left of the tracks, but also a shock front is to be placed far down on the fairway a few times. The greens are not fast, but very tricky. Since making two putts to hole up often happy. One has to play the course several times. Then also agrees with the score. Beautiful clubhouse with terrace and friendly service. Food and Drink in good price performance ratio. Staff and members are all very friendly and outgoing. Conclusion: Highly recommended!

Beautiful but difficult

24/10/2010 Yesterday I played the course - fantastic views to the mountains and the sea are guaranteed however - I myself have 26 HCP - a rather difficult place, I would not play without the buggy. Many haircuts go over ravines and / or streams and from the yellow tee times certainly no less than 150 m. I played also had their problems with two Dutchmen with 12 + HCP 14th However - even I had played a birdie on a par 4. Important - take balls - because if you hit into the bushes a side he will be due immediately from there crouching men, then stand on the streets and the balls in 15-bag sell it again. Bottom line: you have to play - and this reason alone, to see how the second or third time you play it Good game: db
