Kilrea Golf Club

47a Lisnagrot Road, BT51 5SF Kilrea, Coleraine, UK

Characteristics

Founded in 1919 near Coleraine, Kilrea Golf Club is widely regarded as one of the premier 9-hole courses in Northern Ireland. Situated on the undulating terrain known as 'The Rough Hills,' this inland course is renowned for its exceptional natural drainage, keeping it playable year-round even when other local venues succumb to the wet climate. Originally laid out by H. McNeill, the professional at Royal Portrush, the course has been extended to 5,672 yards. It offers a distinct challenge despite its length, featuring tight fairways and small targets that demand accuracy off the tee. The club has a rich history, having briefly relocated in the 1930s before returning to its original, scenic home, offering golfers spectacular views of the countryside.
