The golf course is in the land of Kidjaberg, which is an ancient settlement, mentioned in "Landnáma" of Ari the wise (1067 - 1148). The work on the golf course was initiated 1989 and the first 9 holes were played for the first time in 1993 and the 18 holes were completed in 2005. On the grounds is also a 5 hole par-3 course. The layout of the golf course is in perfect harmony with the landscape, with the river "Hvíta" (the White River) as dominating feature. It is spectacular to see this great body of water flowing by and on the 14th tee there is no need for "quit please" as the river cascades only few yards away, displaying its colour of white.
Successful playing of the golf course involves careful game plan, where the player with high handicap can take advantage of the moderate length of the course while the low handicap player must find the relatively small greens and at times negotiate the wind, which can have different direction on neighbouring, holes due to the dramatic landscape. This great place starts with a very challenging starting hole. After the tee has to be played precisely on a small plateau on top of a hill. The start hole is like the whole course: spectacular, great views of the surroundings and other holes, great terrain crossings, watercourses that cross the tracks, and always new challenging challenging challenges (together with a wind, one as a player Constantly faces new challenges).

The course is moved and surprised with its varied paths, which are masterfully integrated into the rugged landscape. First down to the river, then up on the mountain, around it and back over a 150 m par 3 back into the depth. A long, demanding par 5 with a high, step-like green lead back to the clubhouse. The rear 9 holes are just as interesting and lead directly back down to the wide river with its rapids.
