The Kaiserwinkl Golf Club Kössen presents itself as jewel in the Alps with its 18-hole-course in the middle of dense green meadows, forests and the jagged massif of the Kaiser Mountains. The partly narrow fairways and the well placed greens demand a precise game. The old stock of trees, the prominent features of the landscape and also the water hazards were integrated exactingly.

Fun to play

The welcoming of staff was very friendly indeed. We could start more or less right away. We enjoyed especially the first nine holes so much. Tempting, exciting and not too easy at all. Many blind shots, necessity of straight shots. Although the back nine holes are less exciting compared to the front nine, still there were enough challenges to cope with.
The bar staff was as friendly and professional as the front staff. Nice shop too! Summarised: definitely worth to play 18 holes on this great course.

Gladly again

We played the course for the first time at the end of June and read the reviews before that. The many 5-star reviews are a bit obvious, especially because there are many reviewers who have previously submitted a rating. After we played the course, we can recreate these ratings.

One senses that was invested in the place and will. Currently, new signs are being thrown at the railways, some were already there, some not yet.

The first 12 tracks are very demanding and also very varied. Almost every hole has to think about how to play the tracks best and tactically. Trains 13 - 17 then go back and forth in narrow lanes separated by tall trees. Here then punches are very important. The course 18 is then again an interesting narrow par 3 with a nice water obstacle.

The place is well looked after, tees, fairways and greens all in top condition. The staff is very friendly.

What took some getting used to is that you often play on or along a public road for cars and cyclists (a narrow public local road) and you always feel uncomfortable when you hit a ball. Because this street was heavily frequented by cyclists on this day and it is often not seen before or at the beat or to recognize whether a cyclist rushes past or not. Therefore, we also deduct a star and award only 4 stars.

If we are in the area again, we will play the course but safe again.
