Characteristics
Established in 1922, High Post Golf Club is a classic downland course situated on the southern reaches of Salisbury Plain, just moments from Stonehenge. The course is renowned for its magnificent views stretching towards the famous cathedral spire and local Iron Age hill forts. Built on free-draining chalk terrain, the 18-hole layout offers excellent playability year-round, famously avoiding the need for winter tees or greens. Originally designed by Hawtree and Taylor, the course features strategic bunkering, disguised grassy hollows, and subtle, challenging greens. Notable highlights include the 9th hole—a favourite of Peter Alliss—and excellent practice facilities featuring a covered driving range and indoor simulator.
