As the oldest golf club in Surrey, established in 1886, Guildford Golf Club occupies a prestigious spot on the chalky Merrow Downs. This historic course, significantly shaped by J.H. Taylor in the 1920s, offers a classic downland experience characterized by rolling slopes and excellent natural drainage. Golfers are treated to spectacular panoramic views that stretch from Guildford Cathedral to the distant Wembley Arch. The layout is renowned for its variety, where no two holes are alike; notably, the "crater hole" on the 15th and the links-style par-3s provide memorable challenges. A blend of Victorian heritage and modern comfort defines the clubhouse, offering a perfect setting to relax after navigating the open commons and attractive woodlands.
