Characteristics

The GolfResort Weimarer Land is located just a few kilometers from the city of Weimar in central Germany. The wonderful 45-hole golf courses (the largest connected golf ground in Thuringia, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt) consist of two 18-hole courses (“Goethe” and “Feininger”), one

9-hole course to practice and a driving range. Furthermore, there is a third possibility to play in the amazing nature: the “Bobby Jones Champions Course” – a combination of the Goethe and Feininger course. A free trail lesson takes place every Sunday from 2 till 3 p.m..

The hotel is opened in May 2013 on the heritage-listed estate and offers its golf and spa guests a relaxed and secluded stay.

Families are just as well catered for, as the hotel has a separate building with seven spacious family suites and a playhouse with a supervised kids’ programme.

Nice challenging course, top facility

We played the Goethe course. Nicely laid out and really tricky in places. Condition of the place was great. The clubhouse with the restaurant is beautiful and the food was good and inexpensive. You pay €35 for a parking space for your motorhome (including electricity). In return you get a discount on the green fees. It's a zero-sum game and very fair.

Plant great, golf course ok

Environment and nature: one plus facility, hotel, facilities: one, you don't want to go home at all Golf course: (Goethe, July 2023) overall grade two minus... because: attractiveness only ok, lanes run a bit carelessly next to each other, but still nice to play, good condition except for the greens, which are extremely slow.
Great resort, but not to be compared with Griesbach from a purely golfing point of view.

Five stars already - but not so super special

I played the Feininger Course two years ago: well maintained, solid, interesting... the first nine with water, the second essentially long...

This year I wanted to try the Goethe Course, it's advertised as the even nicer place. Is also beautifully embedded in the landscape, good maintenance condition, reasonably varied.

So basically everything is at a high level, which is why I'm giving it five stars. However, it is more of a "normal good place" as there are others. The particularly extraordinary, as it is sometimes advertised, is not it either. The space and surroundings should be more spectacular.
