Golfclub Traunsee Almtal - Welcome to what is probably the friendliest golf club in Austria.
Just 10 minutes by car from Gmunden am Traunsee and the nearest motorway access, the 18-hole course of the GC Traunsee Almtal is located in the tourist region of the same name on a hill with a magnificent view of the Alpine foothills.
Originally founded in 1989 as the sixth golf club in Upper Austria, it celebrated a new start in 2024 - 35 years later. At a length of 4,670 metres for ladies and 5,327 metres for men, the course offers a varied architecture that challenges even experienced golfers time and again. The course offers plenty of interesting challenges for both beginners and advanced golfers.
The clubhouse has a small pro shop and spacious changing rooms with showers and lockers. A sufficient number of parking spaces are also available for motorhome golfers.
After the round, we recommend a visit to the club restaurant ‘DAS TRAUNSTEIN. Wirtshaus am Kampesberg.’, where you can savour local delicacies and home-style cooking on a fantastic terrace with a magnificent view and a unique sunset. Hospitality and the well-being of members and guests are just as important here as cosiness. Non-golfers are of course also welcome as guests at any time.

After the crash last year, a competent and committed team was formed and redesigned the club and especially the pitch.
Last year the course conditions were catastrophic, a new greenkeeper team is trying to eliminate the major defects. This has generally been a success, the fairways are in very good condition, the greens are on the right track but are still too soft and therefore relatively slow.
Some of the bunkers have been removed, especially on holes 6 and 7.
Unfortunately, hole 7 has lost its appeal due to the loss of the large fairway bunker.
Another major drawback is the burnt tee boxes and the lack of catering.
But we are working on that too and then 4 stars should be possible again!

Varied place with many sloping tracks

The first 9 holes on this varied course lead down or run in the green Laudach Valley, the second 9 predominantly have sloping fairways and are sometimes difficult to play. The course maintenance is okay, but nothing more, the greens are rather small and not undulating too much.
Overall, the course suffers a little from the very sloping last lanes, but a nice lap is always possible.
The clubhouse has a beautiful view, the restaurant has a wonderful terrace and an attractive range.
