I recently had the absolute pleasure of golfing in one of the most stunning locations imaginable—at the bottom of the Austrian Alps. From the moment we arrived, the scenery took my breath away. The warm-up on the driving range was an experience in itself, with sweeping, panoramic views of the majestic Alps. It’s hard to find a more inspiring backdrop while perfecting your swing!
Once warmed up, my colleague and I played the front 9 holes on a course that was both beautifully maintained and thoughtfully designed. Each hole felt like a unique adventure, blending seamlessly into the natural beauty of the landscape. The course was challenging yet fair, with a perfect balance of lush fairways and strategically placed hazards. But honestly, it was the combination of the fresh mountain air, the quiet tranquility, and the jaw-dropping views that made this round of golf unlike anything I’ve ever experienced.
If you’re a golf enthusiast and find yourself anywhere near Villach, this place is an absolute must. It’s not just golf; it’s a retreat into nature with a side of golf. Highly recommended!

Despite the persistent heat in August, the course was in very good condition. The first 15 holes differ practically only in the PAR number. But from hole 16 onwards, things really get going. The best of all is the "19th hole"! The whole package in the restaurant is just perfect. Very good food, extremely friendly service, moderate prices (for this quality) and the great panoramic mountain view invite you to linger. The suites could certainly do with air conditioning in August, but the monument protection does not allow this.

The overall package consisting of the golf course, castle suites and restaurant is absolutely worth 5*. The course alone gets 4*, it's nice to play and well maintained. Unfortunately very full and apart from the 13,16,17 and 18 the design is not really stunning. But the panorama, the excellent golf restaurant and finally the suites in the castle are fantastic. We are fun golfers and of older age and these qualities are very important. A day of golf in good weather here is simply a wonderful experience. We'll be back for sure..
