Interesting and challenging

Unfortunately only a 3 star rating because the bunkers are filled with very stony gravel and the bunker edges were not pierced but rather carved out. With a green fee of €80, this is a no-go. The greens had some bare spots, but were otherwise okay. The layout of the tracks is varied and has various highlights. In order to play this place “well”, it takes several rounds, which is why we will come back. 😀

Outrageous price for a disastrously maintained place!

It's a shame for us three golfers (we were on a golf tour through Holstein Switzerland) that we expected a green fee of €80 for a facility that was qualitatively equivalent to this price.
Every green was covered with fungus and deep holes didn't allow the ball to run on track!
In our opinion, the legacies of the local geese and ducks at the water hazards (there are quite a few on the course) had never been removed.
We will not recommend this place, let alone play again!

Recommended for guest players - no frills golf at it's best

Yesterday I had the pleasure of playing the course at GC Waldshagen near Eutin as the last course on my Baltic Sea golf card. I can say that it was a lot of fun. The course is wonderfully hilly and sporty to play in accordance with the topographical conditions of Holstein Switzerland. The fairways fit very nicely into the surrounding nature. A lot of water and several island greens ensure that the guest player uses up the ball more - alternatively, just play one iron shorter (but who am I telling that). Again and again beautiful flowering strips and old, tall trees. Note: really demanding course management is required here! But rarely have I had more fun with messed up balls.

The signage is exemplary and you always have an overview. Very friendly and accommodating greenkeepers and a friendly desk round off a successful round.

I can understand the complaints about the condition of the space, but I find them exaggerated. As a golfer, you share the environment with flora and fauna. If that's too much for you, I recommend high-priced art installations abroad. And if I lived in the vicinity, I would register immediately in view of the cheap premiums! The place deserves it.

Conclusion: I felt very comfortable here. Thanks for the nice morning ;-)

Goes so...

The place is so "medium" maintained, the "semis" are mowed exclusively by mowing robots. Looks funny, is also quite effective, but otherwise a greenkeeper who appears more often would do the place quite well (very slow greens!). The legacies of the geese are part of this, but are also really common. A difficult course for medium handicappers, as many holes are very long. Redeeming the green fee voucher (2 for 1) was not a problem - however, the GF (weekdays!) is 80 € instead of the 60 € given in the latest Albrecht. And that's a lot for the place. Result: Very long course, high GF - few players. Understandable. Unfortunately, the gastronomy wasn't such that we were drawn back again.

Not enough for 4 stars because:

- the greens were soft, dull and bumpy with badly punched holes
- It is the job of the greenkeeper
should, at least once a day, clean the tees and greens from the remains of the gray geese, if you can't drive them away. That's how it is Tl. Unappetizing.
- the pro shop is a shack and you get the impression
can get that adventure golf and mini golf are more important. (The secretary was very nice)
Otherwise a very exciting place with four beautiful
Par 3 holes and two island greens.
However, six par 5 holes are a bit much. With the exception of the os flaws recommended.

Class space

This place is fun. Diverse, challenging and just beautiful and well cared for. Our round of golf in June was great - maybe apart from the result ;-).

Could be great

When I read the reviews published here, I am very surprised. 4 of us played this course in spring 2020, when SH just allowed golf again. Conclusion:
1. It is a privately managed public facility. The pro shop is a shed, there is a green fee machine if nobody is there, changing rooms are closed as everywhere due to Corona, restaurant ditto. everything normal, unpretentious, no glamor but everything works.
2. The course is extremely interesting on hilly terrain with noticeable differences in altitude. Certainly one of the best layouts in the wider area 3. The course maintenance is sufficient, nothing more. where should a public place that has been closed for months (i.e. living on the green fees) get the money for more?
We enjoyed playing this challenging course with joy and lots of fun. The GF was reasonable at € 50. Everyone in flight agreed on that. Gladly again!

Getting worse

The place was once one of the best and most demanding places in the region.
There's nothing left of that now. A catastrophic maintenance condition, a non-inviting clubhouse and completely overpriced green fees.
What has become of the club and the square is completely a tragedy.
For me it was definitely the last lap until further notice...

Dear golfbuddy1980,

Thank you for your assessment that the Gut Waldshagen golf course is one of the best and most demanding courses in the region. Since the design hasn't changed, it will still be the case.

Allow me to ask whether you actually played our course in December? A little more caution would have been appropriate when assessing the space available at this time of year, right?
Incidentally, we allow the game to be played on summer greens all year round and, unlike many other golf courses in the region, are not switching to winter greens. Our members and green fee players appreciate this very much.

The reference to a “non-inviting clubhouse” is even more disconcerting. Again, the date of your re-registration should be remembered. The gastronomy had to be closed in November due to the corona. We hope that we will be able to entertain our guests on our sun terrace again at Easter at the latest.

Our green fee is 30.00 or 35.00 euros until March 31,2021. When using a 2 for 1 voucher from the Albrecht golf guide, only half. Too expensive?

Stay healthy!

Sven Timm (managing director)

PS It is also irritating that "Golfbuddy1980" allowed itself to be carried away with an almost identical, derogatory rating on Tripadvisor on December 2nd, 2020. In both cases, it is his first and only review of a golf course!

Interesting place

The place is - due to the weather - very dry. Some greens are in poor condition. BUT: the whole area is a super nice place with (unfortunately) a lot of big bunkers.
Conclusion: it's fun to play the course, but the green fee is too high!

Disappointing

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the previous critical assessments. The course is actually well laid out and fair to play. Unfortunately, the condition is only mediocre. Especially the greens are gruesome. With a green fee of 50 € / 9 holes you have to be able to expect more. A modest neighboring course offers greens for half of the green fee without blame or blame. The old brown maht lies in places on the pre-green. The fairways are not mowed short in many areas. Here you have to play with irons instead of woods.
Once and not again.

If only the place wasn't so dry...

We played the course for the first time in early August 2020. The previous reviews prompted us to do so. Well, because of great greens. Sometimes fast, sometimes slowly and also pretty badly maintained. The fairways are wide but dry as a bone. The place has many water points. If there is no built-in fairway irrigation, you could at least blast the fairways regularly with appropriate suction pumps. It would also be helpful if optical "signposts" (eg trees or club flags etc.) were to show the fairway course, which is largely unknown to strangers.

Space has gotten better

Last year still a little difficult space. Greens were partly very dry (or mushroom ?!). No comparison this year: beautiful greens, well-kept space. Challenging, even if the fairly wide fairways are forgiving. It was fun - we'll be back!

A great facility!!!

I can not understand some previous reviews really... but that's another matter!
Shortly I called today after noon and without any problems I could still refuse.
Already the reception of the polite and competent lady conveyed to me the feeling of being welcome...
The course was in pristine condition, freshly mown fairways, loose sand in the bunkers and nice fast greens!
Each hole presents a challenge to the ambitious golfer and to the beginner, partly due to the length, the really numerous bunkers, the ever-present water and the differences in altitude which sometimes require a blind play!!!
I will definitely come back!

Beautiful place in the middle of Seeen

Today we have played a beautiful golf course with many challenges such as long pairs 5, difficult greens in the middle of the water and strong wind.
Since the place is surrounded by lakes, it has many roommates like ducks and geese who enjoy the area very much

Interesting place partly but unfair

The two reviews in front of me, I can only partially share. We have the place so around the 10.05. played. The greens and the tees were ok. The fairways maintained. That with the goose's... right. Although not to the extent we listed but still golf is an outdoor sport and I do not expect that there every 1-2 hours a greenkeeper the Sch.. cleared away. If so, would be twice the green fee due. What bothered me a bit was that I had to play blind. On the fairway there would help markers and roughly specify the direction. Without knowledge of space, this is unfair from a certain length in my view.

Frightening!

Played on Sunday the 27.5. On our trip to Sylt a visit to Holstein Switzerland was close. The good thing first: We were able to redeem a weekday green fee 2: 1 on Sunday with our Albrecht voucher book. At this point a big thank you to the friendly secretariat. In almost all respects, we have to agree with the previous reviews. In addition, there were the following points of criticism: On the area romp numerous wild geese colonies whose legacy forces on all lanes to veritable obstacle barrels so as not to step into the ubiquitous faeces. Greens and tees were despite watering partly broken over a large area, which is why a recent review with 4 stars seems incredible, because this desolate green state can not be reached within 3 weeks.
Furthermore, a 3er Flight was extremely slow in front of us, so we had to wait constantly. Play through: No indication. We then just passed with the omission of a train (this flight needed 5:40!).
Gastronomy: Do not seem to care about guests. Unfriendly, you have to almost beg for a drink. Furthermore, we were charged for a glass of tap water to take a tablet 1.70! We refrained from eating and drove to Plön instead.
Conclusion: Original is the Sandinselgrün looks like a Hallig at low tide. In the current state of the place is not recommended.
After Plön.

Disappointing for the first time

Every year at Whitsun we travel to the Baltic Sea for 2 weeks to face the challenges of the local golf courses. An absolute must every year is the Golfclub Waldshagen. He has always been my absolute favorite of all the places we play regularly. Today he was in a terrifying state. The tea boxes were dry. There was hardly a blade of grass to be found. The fairways looked similar in part, partly it was impossible to get under the ball. The bunkers were partly overgrown, whole tufts of grass looked out. They also had too little sand. A bunker, I can not understand at which hole looked like a sponge had taken root, very unkempt. The greens were bumpy and bumpy so the ball partially left its line and broke away. It is understandable that there are limitations in the heat that currently prevails, but asking for the full price for this place is not alright. We got a 20% discount from Albrecht but we would have got him on the pitch if he had been in super condition and even with discount he was clearly too expensive. When we ate in the restaurant then excellent we would from a club member in our opinion about the place questioned. We were asked to announce them. The members are no longer happy with the circumstances. I really hope that we can read more positive impressions again by next year. I would not like to delete the place from our list.

Nice challenge in Waldshagen

Played on 1.5.2018. First of all, I can not share the last-mentioned reviews, at least for the time being. The well-maintained 18-hole course near Eutin is located in absolute peace and nature and also has a 6-hole short course and an exceptional mini golf course. The main course offers at PAR 73 (6 par 5) all the challenges golfers need including two real island greens. In addition to some crisp water hazards, the many well-placed bunkers also come into play. At Bahn 1 one still believes it is a parkland course, but this quickly turns out to be a misjudgment. The terrain is rather open, so that possibly the strong wind affects the game. The course also has slight height differences (cart for normal sporty not necessary), so that it can come to blind strikes depending on the ball position. Almost every lane is different and therefore it rarely gets boring. Due to the mostly open lanes, even higher HC should have fun here, but take a few more balls because of the water hazards. The condition was mostly good in our game even if there were bald spots here and there on the fairways. The only wet track was the 16, but also there you could play well. The greens were good and loyal. The game mode was on a rainy holiday morning, probably because of the mixed weather very manageable. There are no start times! Whoever refuses to open the secretariat pays the currently appropriate green fee at the practical mailbox. If you tee off at 4 pm, you can play until dark for a cheap Sundownertarif. The lady at the counter is very nice and helpful. We can not say anything about the restaurant as it is still closed during our visit. Conclusion: To 5 stars is not much, so an absolute recommendation here to play a round. The way is worth it!

Unfortunately, too wet

The condition of the place was unfortunately dampened by the previous regentage, which was however by a wintergreenfee of EUR 25, which we found very fair. A dog is allowed here, so we have a good impression.

Bad Condition

Unfortunately very bad condition!
The tees are very uneven and have extremely many holes.
The fairways and roughs are badly mowed and barely distinguishable.
The fight against the mole was either abandoned or abandoned.
On the greens you will find a lot of holes which are also not worked!
Too bad, the place is very interesting and challenging.
Also a pity is that little attention is paid to the game. Here a Marshall would not be bad!
Positive is the friendly reception and the gastronomy!

Sad development

We had played the place last 3 years ago a few times and looked forward to a round at best late summer weather. Clearly the topography is still beautiful, hilly, water, island green, very nice. But the place has unfortunately developed very negatively. Sometimes the tees are hardly recognizable as such, simply fields. The tee-off markings faded, on which one or other ladies' markings no more signboards. The fairways are sometimes ok, mostly they resemble a hackerwiese... The worst was the greens: with holes overprinted and totally neglected, besides, very slow.
We often play against Greenfee, here the money (60 € pP) really sorry, and we will surely not play this place again.

Great Place, ...

... Unless the members 70+ were the guest players did not accept. Etiquette is ignored and repeatedly knocked at par 3 even though we were still on the Green. Following been viciously because slow game (4:20 hours for 18 holes) insulted. I imagine a relaxing vacation in the square andes vir. Perhaps highly subjective but I will not play this beautiful place sicheröich. He has not vwrdient on jejeden case such members. but must make do with this.

Nice place with little highlights

In the phone, call registration were not pointed out that the yellow tees are locked. Only with the warm and friendly reception in the morning they told us that. Two exciting tracks and otherwise boredom. The place was in a good condition. The greens slow, but well maintained. After the round, the food was completely overwhelmed to serve some drinks and food. Schade - seasonal business should not happen.

Great greens and otherwise...

A challenging course, the real fun. Three Island Greens (2 with water, 1 with sand), there is probably not as often. Is the place in prime condition. Even the beer afterwards was served very nice. It's all true. 5 stars I want me to keep it for the world class.

Beautiful place in a great area

Well maintained community with interesting challenges and obstacles pond amidst the Plöner Seeenlandschaft. Especially nice especially the second nine holes, while the first nine sometimes seem a bit monotonous. Overall, moderate, but suitable for all HCP classes. Excellent clubhouse with beautiful sun terrace to the west. Mondscheintarif is additional attractive factor. Come back.

Very beautiful and interesting place

Very well maintained and interesting to gambling space. Unexpectedly hilly for SH. Fairways were well maintained and the greens very fast.

Shortcoming: the hole 10 we ran on a quad. It was more sought in the woods and playing in the sand as golf. Was time-consuming and annoying. Sometimes a Marshall and the problem would be solved.

Highly recommended

A superbly maintained course with great greens and fairways. Rarely have I seen so many bunkers on a Paltz. Nevertheless, the play's great fun here. There are island green, natural stone walls and front and side water. The course is challenging, but also for golfers with high HC to play.
The restaurant is very good and nice service. In our holidays we are equal to 2 times the 60 km down to play there.
