Characteristics
In 1991, this course was converted into one of the most scenic natural golf courses in northern Germany. The fairways are nestling in an undulating landscape and provide a grand view of the Geest area and the landscape of the Seeve valley. The restaurant has a beautiful terrace with a terrific view over Seevetal until the Skyline of Hamburg.

The place is as described. Also quite long from the women's tee. If you don't like slopes, inclines, blind holes and trees in the middle of the fairway, you should stay away from this course. Everyone else can have fun as long as they don't obsessively look at the score. Because it is only good if you know the place.

What was only intended as a spontaneous plan B on the way to vacation (terrible weather forecast for the afternoon on Sylt) has a good chance of becoming my absolute favorite place in the north - despite Winston and Budersand.
The Hockenberg is almost high alpine by northern German standards (but for me, as a reasonably fit man in my mid-fifties, it's still manageable on foot), demanding but fair, extremely varied, beautifully grown and very well maintained. My favorite holes are, on the one hand, the 14, where a wonderful large tree in front of the green requires a considered approach (but all the other 17 holes also have their own character, with which I would like to strongly contradict an earlier review here). And on the other hand, hole 19, where the menu (many Franconian specialties) is just as southern German as the mountain panorama.

The entire golf course of the Golf & Country Club Am Hockenberg has a lot of ups and downs. Just as you might not expect for the situation at the gates of Hamburg. In between, there are also tracks that are "slightly flatter" with less incline, but just as demanding. Attractive lane designs, with slopes, crests, doglegs, several elevated tees, ponds, etc.

A very interesting golf course that requires a certain amount of experience or knowledge of the course for a decent score.
Absolutely recommendable for a varied round of golf!
