Lovely situation, but a bit if a disappointment

The situation was lovely, but the course was in very poor condition due to bad maintenance. The greens were almost unputtable with a lot of damage or disease. The fairways had not been properly cut and one would not expect daisies on the fairway on a course trying to position itself as a premium course. There was nowhere for visitors to change, and the only available WC was in the bar which necessitated removal of golf shoes. It has the potential to be a super golf experience, after real attention to the needs of golfers, on and off the course.

The place is beautifully situated in the countryside. The old building and the new hotel convey hospitable charm.
The first nine holes appear more coherent and interesting than the back nine. The course is fair overall, easy to play and varied. The water is present, but affects the game very little. We played this course in the high season and were amazed that there was relatively little activity. The complex is very well maintained and the hotel, clubhouse and restaurant are inviting. Those staying at the hotel have the choice between the guest rooms in the clubhouse or the traditional rooms in the castle.
