Management not interested

We played yesterday and were told we had to play the front/links nine due to maintenance on the north 9. Ironic as for most of the round we encountered diggers, lorrys ans chain saws with some cart paths blocked abs a lot of noise. Not what you want from a round of golf. Nelly the manager has not responded to feedback over 3 days and by visits and emails. Plenty of other golf courses- very disappointing.

Yet another golf course

We played Norte + Links on 19 Jan 2012. Dry, mainly sunny with some clouds, ca 20°. Links is "links" just by name: it doesn't look nor feel like the real thing. Both courses (Norte + Links) are well maintained, look fine, have nice views, although the Links nine are i.m.o. more pleasant. I don't like the blind shots one has to resort to. Beware for laying up at Links hole 4: the water is closer than you anticipate (rather: I anticipated ...). Small things: no logo balls, no stroke saver. Pitch fork for the collection ok. Conclusion: this is yet again one of the many golf courses available, though slightly more attractive then Amarilla which we played two days earlier. But every course, and every game, is a very personal experience.

It's better

The course is laid out in a very interesting way and is really fun!
Driving range, like almost everywhere in Spain, mixed with balls from several years ago and all of them had long since reached their expiry date.
For €39 I expect a cart that is not around 20 years old (there were no newer ones to be seen!!) and that can "master" the last hills in front of the clubhouse with two people!
There is aircraft noise on several runways, but this is the case at both places at the airport. The fact that this is a very windy corner makes the place rather interesting! It's a shame the club house is a pearl with its beautiful courtyard and is evidence of a beautiful past.
Therefore 3 stars

Not to underestimate!

After Abama and Costa Adeje on par with Buenavista for me! The location is great, the black sand is something, the gorges and the mountains, the palm trees and the sea view, it's all there! The condition of the tee, fairway and rough was top notch! Something special worth mentioning is that Del Sur had by far the best greens on the island!
Fast as an arrow and extremely snappy, super class!!! Don't miss Del Sur!

Golf office employees are overwhelmed

After confirming the start time 3 times by phone, none of the awkward and unfriendly employees could find my start time today on December 16th, 2023!
I went back to the hotel disappointed and upset!
Never again Golf del Sur

Very nice and varied

Clubhouse and reception are a bit old. Rustic charm, but we were there to golf. Very nice place. Well maintained with very varied and challenging tracks. The surroundings are more reminiscent of a desert-like environment; sometimes the panorama was rather ugly, but the space itself compensated for this. A very nice gaming experience!

Top golf course... but...

For years we have been coming to Tenerife South to play golf. Links and Norte are still fun. Fairways and greens in good condition (to our fellow golfers - bending over helps). The experience only becomes clouded at hole 19, when you are at the mercy of the female waiter.
Compliments to the GC Secretariat, Starter/Marshall Team and the male service staff at hole 19.

Interesting place

Very helpful people in the secretariat and marshals everywhere. The latter were only partly competent, because we waited at practically every hole, when we had a distance of about 3/4 of the lane after a long walk between the holes, we were asked to play faster, had to play on the same hole before the Playing the green, already waiting again! Recommendation, take a buggie/cart. Very interesting holes, but you have to make a few blind shots (birdie book or modern golf watch recommended). We were so concentrated that we practically never really noticed the considerable aircraft noise (approach lane). Lanes incl. Greens in very good condition. There is nothing more to add to the previous statements regarding the bunker. We enjoyed a final aperitif in the restaurant.

Varied

Have played courses A and B (left and north) because the south course no longer exists.
The fairways are very varied, exciting and, if you don't know the place, also demanding. Visually, the place is nicely laid out, the bunkers and the few water hazards are strategically well laid out, but not unfair.
Course maintenance could be improved in any case, I fluctuated between 3 and 4 stars. Fairways with some damage, greens okay and also very fast, bunkers filled with black lava sand, difficult to play because very hard.
From white the course is 5,764 m long, par 72 and therefore easy to play from behind - buy a birdiebook!

... are disappointed...

... the best in Tenerife, no question about it, not in the Top 100 of Spain for nothing - this is how the note from 2006 begins!!!

The 27 holes were planned and built by José (called Pepe) Gancedo and put into play at the end of the 1980s. He was responsible for doubling the golf offer within a decade. The links loop doesn't quite live up to its name, but it does justice to golf fun.

The design is very reminiscent of the US courses in Arizona or Florida. There are visually great holes, the whole thing looks harmonious. The palm trees that line the holes reinforce the US impression, apart from irrigation they cannot be found - the conditions are too dry and unreal. The links lead to the sea, has its own character - hardly any bunkers.

No matter which combination you play, the courses are easy to play - provided the wind doesn't want to prevent this. The Hoyos are on average less than 350 meters long, a real holiday course.

We were amazed at the bunkers that are filled with black volcanic sand. It's hard and grainy, takes some getting used to to play. after a few hits it works, the tracks in the club are solid after all.

These are all notes from two previous visits - today - the lines are not so positive!

The visit here is primarily due to the Covid pandemic, because all trips planned for the winter have become obsolete. We took Spain off the list years ago. There are several reasons for this, in particular the maintenance quality of the courses - too much does not fit together. A great deal of effort has been made for a number of years to present a well-tended course and - again - to win over golfers. Then, when the courses are well attended, you forget the effort and the focus is on maximizing sales - this is not the first time we have registered this.

The whole complex does not look so well-kept and maintained, we are disappointed!

A lot of work is required to get back to the previously good level. In this condition, the facility has no place in the ranking of the island courses, nor has it lost anything in the ranking of the top Spain courses!

Elegantly formulated: The facility is a shadow of its best days!

It is a bit noisy here, we are right in the approach lane to Aeroporto Reina Sofia del Sur, you have to accept that - we also came by plane. It was also a big topic today - although the planes weren't that numerous.

Everyone was for three stars...

The flow of the game is just as it is in Spain - the hotspots - slow. Many who only swing the clubs on vacation or even hold them in their hands for the first time. Today - thanks, or because of Covid, we had nothing to complain about - hardly any players on the course.

More on this topic in the ABAMA rating.

Very dignified golfing pleasure

The place is hilly, varied and we never get bored.
Very good fairways, beautiful, undulating and fast greens, where the ball holds the line while putting and doesn't bounce around. every now and then water comes into play. the usual stone & cactus islands and marginal areas are part of the landscape. the bunkers are actually more like lava hard courts with sand crowns. this has the advantage that you can easily get out with the fairway wood. But if it got you in front of the green, and high & short is asked, then it gets a bit trickier. the place labeling is rather marginal.

we played * links * and * norte *. (there would be * sur *) both are pure golfing pleasure, especially for those players who have long shots and want to use the area with an additional taxiway after the ball has landed.

Conclusion: for a moderate green fee you get a lot of good quality golf. for me again anytime.

the 19th hole was closed due to corona.

Only 18 holes left!

Maybe I would have given the place 3.5 * without Covid restrictions, but many facilities were closed. By the way, they let South Square rot! Nice exercise facility. The place has an interesting varied layout. The greens, as with all courses on Tenerife, very quickly. The maintenance of the space next to the playground, however, leaves a lot to be desired. The place was almost empty! The quality must not decrease further, otherwise it will not survive. The low-flying planes can sometimes disrupt the fun of the game. All in all, you can recommend the place.

Nice place wrong numbering

The course plays smoothly without being boring. Only the changed hole order led to confusion of the Garmin Watch. Unfortunately, air traffic was noticed negatively. As with some other places too. Still recommended.

North / South improved

The layout of the two courses is quite impeccable, care could be improved, the greens look visually quite good, but are extremely dull and slow. With a trowel these would certainly be great.

The most beautiful holes:
North - the 5, a beautifully landscaped par 5 with 477 m length south - also track 5, a heavy par 5 with 480 m length of yellow.

Better than ever...

Golf del Sur has never been so beautiful and well maintained as this year. Many streams / streams and ponds have been re-edged with stones in a natural way. In particular, the LinksCourse has received more charm and character. Greens were well maintained throughout.

Place ok, but not as top like Adeje.

Slightly unkempt, not so great place, you can play though, it is in Tenerife, nicer and quieter (Aircraft Noise) golf courses.

Wind Vulnerable

Have combining red and yellow (I think Links and Sud) played. Very friendly welcome, whom a racket in the bag is missing - visit Proshop, huge selection of clubs. Place is optically and from the maintenance state very beautiful, unfortunately, very susceptible to wind. The black volcanic sand in the bunkers is exceptional, but plays very well

Professional and well maintained facility

The plant in the south of Tenerife, next to the airport (less impairment than in Amarilla Golf, at least in our group), consists of 3 loops a 9 holes (North Course, South Course, Links Course / per PAR 36). In an 18 hole round inquire at reception where we were served busy but friendly, which combination to play. The best we can find the links course which also brings with it a few slight increases (A Cart on all loops for normal sporty challenge in our view not needed). Where the name is misleading and links course with a real links that has absolutely nothing to do, but there are some nice views of the Atlantic Ocean and the beautiful clubhouse. But the other two loops are well designed and offer all the challenges that wants a golfer. Not to everyone's taste but nice to look at is the black lava sand in the bunkers. Even if the sand is slightly coarser, so you can play from the bunkers. There are also large waste areas with the same stone sand, which are not to be confused with the bunkers. The condition was nearly perfect on 04/03/2015. In particular, the greens were good and loyal, albeit partially strongly undulated. Since most of the fairways are very open and there is virtually no rough, higher HC should have fun. Nevertheless, one should take a few more balls, but due to some water hazards and gorges which applies to play it. A small downside is that there will be some blind shots on the course, which is ever difficult in the absence of knowledge space. Caution is advised in lane 1 of the South Course. Some of range balls on the track evidence of ricochets of these adjacent driving range. On the plant is at 8.00 clock in the morning lively crowd (definitely before a start time reserve / afternoon a little less operation). Starts in 8 minutes. Who can should get there early. We were lucky enough to be allowed at 7.30 clock alone for two before any other than the first round, even though we only had 8:00 clock start time. But Marshall, who is by the way very nice read, start playing us earlier. The Greenkeeper that were around the time of course still hard at work, were considerate to us. Golf del Sur is worth from our point of view one of the top 3 places on the island and a visit in any case and the green fee (by booking online via the website, there are a small discount) is absolutely appropriate.

Geiler place

This place was times but worth the trip. The black bunkers are already a feast for the eyes, even if they are difficult to play. A little crowded, like all Plätz we played in early February, but still bearable. The place I would probably play again.

Good

Yeah - that's ärglich! The black stuff can not actually play - but looks great.
The Links course, is so beautiful and makes a golfer's heart beat faster. That's not "classical" left - but distinguished by the fact that one occasionally has no idea where it's going: So "england style" under palm trees :) Quite sexy!

It was on the South course also some pretty tricky holes. Recommended for golfers who do not necessarily need the NonPlusUltra. We had a lot of fun there!
About the price I do not talk in January just overpriced.

Good but short golf course

If the combination Sur / Link played. The holes are all not too long so that even games that do not play so well with the driver get good opportunities.

The biggest downside to this place is the marketing gimmick with the black sand. What looks best in the photos turns out to be on the court as an ordeal for the bat. This is not a black sand gravel more special.

Just like Amarilla is overflown all par minutes from approaching jet.

Otherwise very interesting especially if you play with as much wind as we had.

We have the combi North / played to the left, unfortunately only from 13.30 and behind a Members only tournament. 25 min. For the first hole and it went so on, Members are here obviously mainly women beyond 80, correspondingly slow one moves... Since you had expected at least one green fee discount on the 16abgebrochen because it is here at 18.20 black as night, Note: made early and the morning TEE TIMES book! Why are there actually Marshalls? If I 8min. STARTABSTAENDE do, I must also provide for fast game!

Long running times!

All three 9-hole sections are interesting and the "links" pretty hard. All maintained. But the start times (every 8 min.) Are too short for many high handicap players and so there is in the high season endless traffic jams and waiting, waiting...

Pleasant Golf Course

We have zurerst Norte played - very well maintained and not difficult and easy to make on foot. The views of the gorge, the sea and the Teide are breathtaking. The landing aircraft have not bother us - we could still have a good time. Links is more difficult and has long + steep passageways. The club house is beautiful, with patio and good food. Interesting place

Played Nov. 12, the loops north and links. Left means the only way, isz like a North Palm Parkland course, very hilly with numerous "blind" tea shots. The pictures on the right haircuts do not help further with the question of where to go for. However, I liked the layout of the place is not too difficult but requires a little thought in many places. Buggie helps not only because of Steigungungen but also to something can go ahead to better plan the next blow. Visually successful installation, the surrounding buildings rarely comes into the picture and disturbs much less than many other Spanish squares. Course maintenance is neat although the court was played a lot of places, easy to take along. Gruen's something blunt with small defects, which is also the fact that very few people seem to have it or use a pitch fork. Visual highlight is the bunker of black sand, which surprisingly neither our dirty pants Hellen was still uncomfortable to play. In the clubhouse restaurant moderate performance but good beer on tap Overall a visually attractive property with a better tourist golf course. Quite OK.

Neat place - but pure chaos

Played Links Course and South Couse (Sur). The place is neatly maintained, wide fairways and a lot of waste areas. The flight management, however, is a disaster. We had before us a 3 flight and before a MEGA lame 4 he flight, not that I have anything against slower players - quite the contrary-but if you constantly waiting and is then asked by Marshall but to soielen faster because playing behind a Club Member ne is outrageous. Label is seemingly not very important here, as is drauflos savagely beaten even though we were still in reach. Except for the driving Marshall and the dangers for exposing himself, a nice round of golf. The subject aircraft is fierce, but that did not bother us.

Noise and Wait

If they want with their playing partner to spend a silent round of golf when they have just fought or other reasons have to spend 18 holes without conversation - the ideal place for golf! The noise of the cause einfliegenden almost every minute Jets namely preventing any conversation! That they then thanks to a inscrutable tea-time logic (the curse of a 27-hole course!) Are confronted at once with extreme downtimes because they present on the back nine of them at once new flights, their silence round sweetened then probably not really! The place otherwise unspectacular, wide fairways with no real challange - ie: if they want to: Go there!

I have the combination of South + North of the 27-hole course - played course. Overall, not too demanding, with huge black sandy wastelands, manageable bunkers and only one water hazard at hole 8 North. Properly maintained facility with some scenic views, situated directly at the airport Reina. Located in the south of the golf courses is not my first choice. Interestingly square test at http://www. golf journal. tv / channels / find athletic fields. (Played on 08/12/2010). H. Becker
