Forest golf with a culinary bonus

We played the course at Vichy Forêt de Montpensier on March 21,2026. It remains a fond memory, primarily due to its pleasant overall atmosphere. Even the pre-round welcome was very friendly and well-organized, and the new clubhouse is impressive both architecturally and functionally. A major highlight is the restaurant: excellent cuisine, good value for money, and a crème brûlée that we particularly remember.
From a gameplay perspective, we found the beautifully designed woodland course interesting, especially because of the water features, which not only look impressive but also add variety to the game. The tee shots were decent, the bunkers well-maintained, and the greens fair rather than overly challenging. However, at the time of our round, they were still heavily aerated and quite sandy, which we clearly consider a seasonal weakness. The vegetation wasn't very lush yet, and the ground was rather earthy in places. One minor drawback is the restroom facilities along the course, which are quite rudimentary and lack running water.
