Located at the gateway to Brittany within the Brière Regional Natural Park, Domaine de la Bretesche offers a spectacular setting. Designed by Henry Cotton in 1967, this 18-hole course winds through a century-old forest, featuring breathtaking views of the medieval château. The 6,015-meter layout is seamlessly integrated into the landscape, with tree-lined fairways that challenge golfers of all abilities. Beyond the greens, the estate boasts exceptional facilities, including a covered driving range and clubhouse. The on-site gastronomic restaurant and a bar housed in former stables add a touch of elegance.

Most of the tracks are located in the middle of the castle forest.
The condition of the fairways and greens was okay at best. Other areas (e.g., paths, etc.) require considerable maintenance and renovation. Nevertheless, it was a great round.
The kitchen in the clubhouse was closed at 3 p.m. and there was nothing to eat—a shame.

A beautifully maintained course set in a beautiful, mature forest. Although the greens had recently been sanded, they were lightning-fast and not the easiest to play. The fairways are mostly quite narrow and become increasingly narrower toward the greens. This requires precise, long tee shots, as balls are difficult to find in the dense forest, requiring extra shots on the doglegs.
With the exception of the holes around the castle, the course offers no variety or views, making the game quite boring.
Very good orientation in this forest maze. Very few water hazards.
The driving range and its balls are quite old.
The hotel's restaurant offers a good selection. However, our lunch of pasta and a beer for €24 was overpriced.
There's a large parking lot for RVs, but no overnight accommodations, and the highway would be too noisy. Small campsites nearby are perfect.
