Clubhouse = container + tents

Last played in 2021, everything was ok.
Well, at the beginning of 09/23, we wanted to play there again and spend the night with the camper.
Surprise: New path to the clubhouse because it was demolished and is being rebuilt. Instead, you only find provisional solutions (containers / tents), which deterred us as campers.
There is no information about this on the club website...!!
Conclusion: We moved on.
If necessary, we will play the course again in 2025 when everything is finished and grown in.
Unfortunately not recommended at the moment.

Golfing with a view

We played this place for the first time as guests at the beginning of September and were absolutely thrilled. We were told right from the start that the holes were labeled differently than those listed on the Garmin golf watch and this was no problem at all. The holes were varied and we found the greens relatively quickly. Well-kept fairways and the usual levels of difficulty. The views of the sea are magnificent from everywhere. We had a lot of fun playing there. Unfortunately we don't have time to test the gastronomy but we'll definitely do that on this holiday because we'll be playing there again.

Definitely not worth the trip

Track 1.245m long, flat, zero obstacles, wide as anything and that's HC 2 !!! ...
At first I thought I was lost on idiot hill. but it's like this: with the exception of 4 lanes, it's flat and wide and nothing sticks in your memory. just don't be fooled by the beautiful photos: they show the only hole that goes down and up, simply from all perspectives... but in the background you can see the flat rest.

the greens are so-so, and with one exception, flat as a pan. the bunkers are badly placed (hardly anyone lands there), mostly only flat sandy areas and the sand is to forget. You can't sell it as a links course either. the few isolated high grass areas are very limited and are often far from the shot.
Conclusion: there is seldom a real joy in golf.
To me, that's uninspired lowland Indian golf.
Anyone who rated this place 4 or 5* fell in love with the great view of the sea or the sunset. certainly OK, but has little to do with the space itself.

green fee: 80€ (weekdays, high season).
The 19th hole is really worth mentioning positively. very good gastronomy!

Good morning Mr Peter,

Thank you for letting us know your impressions about your recent visit to our golf course. We are sad to read that you did not enjoy your time playing Golf d'Etretat. However, we would like to clarify some points with you in order to understand better some of your thoughts.

Our clubhouse and parking are under major renovation since january 2023 and until february 2024. Because of this renovation, we have been in the obligation of changing our facilities for this season (it was changing our facilities or no golf for this year) and we have been in the obligation of finding a spot to start the course from. The hole you talked about (245 mts, HCP 2) is the usual hole number 3 and it has its tee boxes at 394 (white), 382 (yellow) and 330 for the blue and red tees. It is indeed quite a challenging hole but in order to acomodate our temporary bar&restaurant, the use of those tee boxes has been stopped and we use advanced tee boxes (just not to hit the terrace from the tee). These changes have been allowed by the French Golf Federation and they suggested us to not change the difficulty of the course for a year duration. That is why te first hole is "easier" this season. and keeps the HCP2 difficulty.

Our course has been created in 1908 and for that time this course was a bit hilly (as you can still notice in the back nine, with some pretty steep holes, ex. actual 13,14,15,17). I don't think this should be a problem not having a hilly course. Many of the people playing here think our course is actually quite steep...

Our greens are, with no doubt, not fast greens neither sloppy. In windy days, the challenge could become very tricky for the most part of the people and we re not looking to have a difficult course, but a enjoyable one for everyone coming to play once or our membres playing regularly.

Same for the bunkers, as I guess your playing conditions did not have much wind. The bunkers can get in play for every player with windy conditions. Unfortunately some of the bunkers have been there since the creation of the golf course in 1908 and the distances were not the same at that time. But the wind plays a major role in the placement of the bunkers.

As you might be aware of, there is only one real links in France, which is Granville Golf course n Normandy too. We are a marine golf course on top of the cliffs and we are very proud of that, but we won't never sell our course as a links course.

We are happy to read that you had a good lunch and we are sorry that we didn't meet your expectations. Our marine golf course will be waiting for you in the future, and hopefuly you will be able to visit us in our new building (with our brand new putting green and short game area opening at the same time) and maybe change your opinion from us.

We whish you a nice golfing season

Fantastic views

The golf course impresses with its location, with views of the sea or the Etretat coast from every hole. The fairways are groomed like a velor carpet, the greens are in excellent condition, not quite as fast, but very fair. There is currently no clubhouse, this is being remodeled and rebuilt.
The containers set up don't bother the food very, very well.
An absolute must to have played on this golf course, for me the most beautiful golf course in France.
Views, breathtaking

Spectacular view

Have played the course in June 2023.
The clubhouse is currently being remodeled, but this doesn't spoil the fun of golf, as there is a quaint, temporary clubhouse and a temporary restaurant was installed right at the 1st tee.
The fairways were also rotated for the conversion (watch out for the golf watch!).
The reception at the front desk was super warm and friendly.
Makeshift restaurant, very friendly service and we unexpectedly had a good meal after the round.
Tees and greens are okay, but should get a little attention.
Especially the greens are very different in terms of speed.
Fairways and bunkers very fine!
Otherwise there are really spectacular fairways and if you are in the area, you should play the course!
View of the Atlantic just awesome!
Again any time!

Sensational place

The good news first: The course, located above the cliffs of Etretat, is simply absolutely spectacular. The fairways are varied with always different views of the sea. The level of difficulty is not very high, unless the wind has a say in it!
Then the whole thing gets a bit intense, but it doesn't detract from the golfing pleasure. The condition of fairways and greens was very good. Now that the entire facility (ie hole numbering), clubhouse, restaurant and driving range appears to be awaiting a redesign (June 2023) it would be unfair to comment on these latter points. In any case, I will definitely play Etretat again should I visit Normandy again.

Must play

Spectacular views, some exciting tracks. If you are in the area, you have to play here! When it comes to maintenance, there is potential.
Unfortunately, the great location of the clubhouse is currently being renovated. Temporary clubhouse is a container. Fairway numbering changed due to a different starting point, which initially caused confusion on the Garmin.

Sensational views

Everything has been said about the place. He lives from the panorama. If it weren't for this view, it would be a mediocre place. Grass grows in the bunkers, weeds on the greens, there are no ball washers and the lanes are sometimes very close together. But this isn't about the golf course, it's about the view.

Breathtakingly beautiful

First of all, get into the traditional gastronomy and eat sea creatures, with a view of the open sea!
With a € 48 sundowner, the Fee is like a gift voucher for the extraordinary from 5 p.m. in bright sunshine!
The course leads from the 1 to the 9 through pine-wooded terrain and again and again reveals great views of the sea and chalk cliffs! The holes are like real links golf, short, fast and undulating! The greens at lightning speed!
Only with wind force "600" :-) you should think a little about the width and thickness of the rough.
So, from the 10th I don't know much what is better than lanes 10 - 18 with over 200 links and seaside seats! Golf-like “super heavy” and that with real links design evening sun, clear view without clouds and the chalk cliffs and Etretat on the horizon, absolutely WoW! Don't put the camera away anymore, it's crazy! Golf, nature, scenery and tradition form a symbiosis here that is unlikely to be found anywhere else in continental Europe! Etretat is a must play course! Care was perfect!!!

Etretat

Played on July 20,21, with little wind and good weather. The place was in excellent condition. Some bunkers were pegged in blue because of work. The greens were very fair and in quick condition. The frontnine are rather boring, except for the view, which is sometimes breathtaking. The 10, because I can't follow my previous reviewer, has nothing to do with golf. Otherwise, the backnine offer a few delicacies that should challenge the player. The 19 seems to be a problem. Although several tables were free and we were told that there was no food except snacks, they did not want to make any of the tables available to us. Only when the, obvious, boss intervened, we were allowed to occupy a table of our choice.
Conclusion, very nice meadow, with beautiful views, which you better look at before or after. The clubhouse is good for the drink afterwards, nothing more.

Uniquely beautiful location

On Monday 5 July 2021 played for two with a cart. This was equipped with a GPS where you entered your score straight away, which, however, especially if you unintentionally came too close to the green, switched off the cart, stopped and suggested that you drive backwards and move away from the green. This means that the fairways and pre-greens remain in pristine condition. From almost every hole you have a great view of the sea and the chalk white rocks. Different views almost make you forget that you came to play golf. I especially liked the 10 because with a wonderful view from the tee you have to reach the lower fairway or the ball gets lost in impassable terrain. Then you play up the fairway with nice looks from strollers who are watching right next to the track. My wife even got applause when she hit the green with one great shot. This is very nice and not like various golfers believe that it disturbs their concentration. The 11 is to be played over a valley and best to reach the green, but here the wind has to be taken into account. With the 12 except a beautiful view of the sea there is nothing special to report but the 13 has it again to play with the driver over a valley and to keep to the right (sea side) so that you reach the plateau and thus halfway Has retracted rent. The remaining holes do not represent any great danger. The pre-greens are almost all very well protected by being cordoned off with a rope to a good 15-20 meters beforehand. Etiquette is also observed and we saw no one driving a trolley between the bunker and the green. Negative points were clearly the bunkers because no work has been done in them for a long time, let alone sand renewal. Although you do not have the privilege of being a couple and also having a cart, according to etiquette it would have been appropriate to let the cart pass. But the 4 gentlemen made no move to let us pass from the 4th hole, took all the time to talk in a leisurely walk and simply did not look behind them because then they could have seen on the last lanes that 3 flights were on one lane. So we had to wait for what felt like 3-5 minutes with each beat to play, which occasionally threw you out of the rhythm. Even if the price of the round was absolutely justified, this was a bemol. However, I have noticed that etiquette has been becoming less and less on the golf course for years

Magnificent Golf Course

Beautiful layout over the cliffs of l'Etretat with spectacular lanes, which (although not a real links course) have left character, especially in windy conditions. Beautiful views of the cliffs and the sea from almost all holes. The courses are demanding, but not predominantly long, so that both low and high handicaps are challenged and can still be a lot of fun. Keeping the score together is still not easy, even if there are sufficient birdie opportunities, especially on the Par5 and some short Par4 holes. Fairways and roughs in very good condition, however, the majority of the greens were very dry and some greens were almost completely burned and in parts almost unplayable, which is apparently due to a disturbance of the green irrigation. We have adequately compensated for this by reducing the green fee to € 50. kkcompensated. A "MusNormandie golf baggage is on the way!

Spectacular

On a sunny September day with relatively little wind, nevertheless temperature differences of 10 degrees depending on the sun, clouds and shadows. The grandiose location overlooking the sea and white cliffs of almost all tracks must be enjoyed! Partial extreme slopes on the fairways, the greens very well maintained, tricky and fast.
An experience! Great food in the modest clubhouse. Super nice boss!

Be sure to play!!!

What must it have been like to be able to see this area and plan a golf course on it!
Grandiose views of the sea, the cliffs, the beach and on Etretat.
Concentrating on the game of golf is sometimes difficult.
The course is in good condition despite the summer conditions and the greens are almost perfect.
For some holes, the coastal path is quite close - so who plays here should know his / her lengths.
On the other hand, when do you ever look at 50 people when putting...

Terrific

The spectacular in this place are the fantastic views of the cliffs of Etretat and the Atlantic Ocean. In strong winds (almost always) the course is extremely difficult to play. Just double your handicap and you will not be frustrated. The unusual thing is that there are trails on some tracks and you have hundreds of spectators who do not dream of interrupting their conversations if you want to hit. You have to play this course when you are in Normandy.

What a panorama

Rather accidentally we passed this incredible golf course. A really good choice. Spectacular holes with beautiful landscape views of the sea and white cliffs. (the second 9 are even better) The course itself looks more like a meadow than a golf course. The handicap should not be taken here so seriously, but just indulge in the great place and location.

Great course with panoramic views

What a place!!! Great links course-like place on the cliffs overlooking Etretat and the coast. The place is nicely laid out and interesting to play. It is good to master walking, even if to be seen from the location hole 10 is quite steep.
The real challenge is the wind. I played in high winds and 2 Par 3 holes at 125 and 126 m from Red I needed once the Driver and once the iron. 9

A beautiful, landscaped seaside resort on the cliffs at Etretat, varied golf course. Special mention is hole 10, which can be seen very well in the direction of the famous cliff formation of Etretat from the beach.
