Extraordinary bunker landscape

Green seems to be very rare in Berlin. Of the 250 courses that we have played, there was none where the greens were so extensively protected by bunkers. Also on the fairways, many strategic areas were provided with a bunker. The quality of the bunkers (sand and edges) suits this club. The condition is very good, divots on the fairways are filled with sand. The greens were fast and quite challenging. Water hazard bites rarely come into play.

After playing and evaluating the north course in 2014, I played the south course on October 27th, 2021. The 36-hole course is located south / west of Berlin approx. 40 km from Kurfürstendamm, in absolute tranquility and nature. In contrast to the north square, you also have several views of Lake Seddiner from the south square. The residential area through which you drive to the complex has now been expanded and you are a little surprised that this is the direct route to the golf course. From runway 10 of the Südplatz you can see a few of the houses, all the other lanes are integrated into the landscape close to nature. The southern square has numerous very large bunker landscapes as a defining element, which should be strategically played around. Some water hazards also come into play, the greens are partially undulating. The rough was cut back a lot, but it can certainly be high and dense in summer. However, you have to warp your ball extremely to land in it. Almost all lifts are visually appealing and varied. Most tees are open to extremely open, so that higher HC should be able to cope well. There is, however, at least for guests, for whatever reason, a HC limit of 28. Whether the south course is ultimately more difficult to play than the north course should be decided for themselves. As much as I praised the condition of the Nordplatz in 2014, the more disappointed I was with the Südplatz this time. The fairways and most of the greens had an extremely large number of bald spots, sometimes even downright holes. The prepared bunkers with fine, light-colored sand were very good. The discounts were mostly okay. The greens, as I said, suboptimal and therefore often a game of chance. The game operation on an overcast but dry Wednesday morning was manageable. You can and should book a start time via the homepage, which is also possible for guests. The standard green fee of € 100 on weekdays and € 110 on weekends is excessive compared to other golf courses and at least € 20 too high. The place isn't that great either. Range balls are not included in the green fee. The receptionist was very nice and friendly, but unfortunately did not point out the poor condition of the place. I am really not petty and also overlook some things, but here I had to complain about the high green fee after the round. After a short discussion, I finally got back 50% of the green fee paid in a very uncomplicated and generous manner. For a Leading Golf Club Germany member it would be desirable if information about a less than optimal course condition were announced on the homepage or at least before the round and there was a discount directly in advance. As a suggestion for improvement, I would suggest the signs from the parking lot to the entrance of the clubhouse. There is a sign, but it is very small and if you do not know your way around, first run into locked doors. Incidentally, the toilets on the square are exemplary. It remains to wish the club that the condition of the course will improve again in the future, because the course itself is wonderful and worth playing
