Worth staying and playing

Very well kept golf course. Greens are fast. Although they were recently plug, the greens were playable. We played on the Marchesa course. The fairways are wide compared to other Italian courses that I have played. Great scenery. The restaurant has good food with good service. I plan on playing again.

Emerging course

Considering the future completion of the second course that will allow to reach the 36 hole membership this course distinguish for being one of the best in the area. Certainly well kept and with a nice clubhouse it offers what you look for, only the real estate development looks a little "packed" and ruins slightly the atmosphere.

Beautiful golf course, very poor condition

We, two recreational golfers, spent 4 nights at the Golf Resort Carolina from September 25th to September 29th, 2024. We can really praise this resort: the rooms are small but everything is practical with a golf storage room. There are carts close to the house. You can basically take a leisurely drive to the clubhouse to register with vouchers. As electric car drivers, we were pleased that there are two wall boxes in the parking spaces and that the Enel charging station actually works. The reception is very friendly and helpful, the restaurant is excellent, as is the bar. A list of restaurant tips outside the area is also provided.

Both golf courses: actually, in terms of parkland facilities, they have the potential to be beautiful. But: the bunkers are soaking wet, or like mud or concrete, the semi-rough is much too high, you almost die searching. That's annoying! But since many of the holes are very long, the risk of scattering when driving a driver is obviously the planned game idea. But balls should at least be found in the semi-rough. The purpose of a semi-rough is to make the shot more difficult, not to make it impossible to find the ball. So you reduce the risk by half-swinging or driving with hybrids or woods, and as a player with average skills you hardly ever reach the green in regulation. The fairways were decent, but on many holes they were "too young", i.e. opened too soon after being re-seeded. The greens were well maintained on the Paradiso, but not always on the La Marchesa. They have exciting breaks that are difficult to outwit. There were also numerous clover patches on the fairways, which reflects the very poor maintenance. The hilly Precorso Paradiso is the more exciting of the two, but it also has two blind tees from yellow, which is again not very enjoyable because the semi-rough is far too high. Paradiso rewards you with really beautiful par 5 holes. Paradiso is challenging. Why its SR is lower than the Precorso La Marchesa, which we consider to be easier - only the gods know!
The La Marchesa course is rather flat and requires a lot of stamina due to its length. Of the two courses, it was the less well-maintained one during our games (we both played pre-courses twice), which was a shame because the layout is a model parkland course.
A bit unusual was that some Italian club members play all over the place as they please and suddenly appear behind or in front of you. Or that two club members did not arrive at La Marchesa on time for their tee time at 10:00, which is why we started playing at 10:01, and were then played by both of them until hole

The clubhouse: the reception is rather sober but polite. The building is old and beautiful. The clubhouse bar and restaurant have a lot of morbid charm, the staff are very friendly and quick in their service. The food is solidly good, the espresso is excellent.

We hope that this golf club will invest more in course maintenance in order to return to its former grandeur.

Disappointing

We played both courses at the end of September 2024. Nice layout but unfortunately the facility is very poorly maintained. Not recommended in its current condition.

Friendly parkland

Played mid-April 2024, HCP 16

At the Golf Club “Villa” Carolina there are “actually” two 18-hole courses – “Paradiso” and “Marchesa”. We played the “Paradiso” course once and the “Principe” course once. The latter is a combination of “Paradiso” and “Marchesa”. Due to construction work, the back 9 holes of the “Marchese” were closed, so we played first 9 and then 1,2, as well as 12 to 18 of the “Paradiso” course. (This seems to be the case quite often, at least there are scorecards and an official rating for this “replacement” course “Principe”.)

Both courses are typical parkland courses. "Marchesa" is very open, slightly hilly - hardly any trees that interfere with play, little water. "Paradiso" is much hillier - also narrower, the trees on the edges of the fairway come into play more often here. "Paradiso" is therefore a little more interesting - also due to the frequent slopes and a few blind shots - but also much harder to play (although both are rated pretty much the same).

The landscape is rather unspectacular, but nice.

The peace and quiet on the courses is wonderful! Now and then (but rarely) the only disturbances are the carts that Villa Carolina guests use to commute between the resort and the golf course, or construction noise from a few neighboring properties. In general, it is of course very nice that you can get the cart right at the hotel and therefore don't have to drive all the way around the course to the club.

There are not many obstacles. The biggest problem is that you have to search for your ball in the semi-rough right next to the fairways or even 2m next to the green. The "semi" is WAY too high, it is already hard rough elsewhere. The very nice manager "Amedeo" (who also gave us a short tour of the old, venerable clubhouse, which is worth seeing) explained to us that it was the heavy growth after rain in the days before. You can believe it - but mowing more often would still help...

The greens are not easy either – quite fast, slightly undulating with breaks that are difficult to assess.

Water rarely comes into play - on "Marchesa" you occasionally have to cross a ditch / pond from the tee, but this is usually not a problem and on "Paradiso" water mostly only comes from the side and is therefore hardly a nuisance.

Unfortunately, the bunkers are very poorly maintained. Only a few offer playable, loose sand; most are concrete-like or the sand is soaking wet. The fairway bunkers, however, are usually easy to take out of play - it is more difficult with the green bunkers, which guard the putting surfaces quite well.

Apart from the “semi” rough and the bunkers, the condition of the course is very good (greens, fairways, tees).

Due to the slight hilliness of the course (especially on “Paradiso”) and the long paths, especially to the first hole, a cart is recommended for anyone who does not want to take it too seriously.

Conclusion: A beautiful, quiet facility - you can try both courses if you are nearby. A solid 3 stars. (In the "Golf Bear Ranking": 5 out of 10 points.)

Can you play:

Played the Course Marchesa here on October 5th. Quietly located, relatively flat, only the last fairways were a little better, previously the fairways were hardly separated from the sides. Areas can be distinguished, very patchy, fuzzy grass, bare areas - it's all there. With two for one you turn a blind eye.

Beautiful!

Both 18 hole courses were well maintained when we visited! Spectacular tracks are missing here, but the ancient villa as a clubhouse is unique! With Leisuare Break or Golf & More €25 per person for 18 holes during the week!

Course Marchesio, no money

The place is unspectacular, loveless and poorly maintained. Parkland. Missing distance information for the tees.
Although the secretariat said the restaurant was open, they were only open for toast and drinks. Long waiting time, no asking.
The best years are over.

Relaxed atmosphere

We played the course in 08/2020. We liked it a lot, especially the location and the club house stand out. The place was well maintained, the greens nice and fast. The par-4 holes are sometimes quite long, so the course is a nice challenge.

Price, performance top

We played both courses at the end of July. Virtually no people on the court. Places despite the heat in top condition. Those who stay in the resort pay 35 euros for the green fee.
Can only recommend the resort and the places.

Venerable and beautiful

Italy offers many beautiful golf courses, but the two squares of the Villa Carolina Resort are special. Marchesa is a mature, well-designed course, has everything you could want as a golfer and is playable for every hcp. Paradiso is trickier, more challenging and more diverse, but not so pretty. But there are dwarf bunnies on course... Impressive are club and clubhouse, time-honored and dignified with good restaurant. Little tourists! A few inconspicuous Swiss and many other friendly and relaxed Italians, a great caddy master.

Great Place

It feels like a palace park, a feudal clubhouse with frescoes and dignified furniture. Sincerely, you will be welcome here, the caddy master will be active immediately and carries the bags to trolley or e-card. The course is beautiful, very interesting to play and challenges.
We were here for the third time and will be back!

Nice, varied place (Paradiso Course) / Very good club

I've played here several times, but driveway and clubhouse still impress. Always friendly and professional reception.
Very pleasant, uncomplicated and friendly atmosphere.
The place is always well maintained, but one notices but by the dryness something that there is a heat wave (is August, but that one knows yes), which does not bother.
The Fairways, Rough and the Greens are well maintained despite the drought, as are the bunkers, and the holes (18 holes, contrary to the information / not 9 holes) lead through an interesting and beautiful landscape. After the game very pleasant atmosphere and good food in the clubhouse (bistro / restaurant).

Beautiful

I played the two 18-hole courses Paradiso and Marchesa given two days apart and can not say which I liked better. Paradiso very hilly, partially along a construction site. They also feel that the place is still new and not so well integrated. There are (especially on the last nine holes) fantastic views of the beautiful scenery, plenty of water and repeatedly fairways along the vineyards.
Marchesa contrast is flat, spacious, a huge park, which extends partially in the shade. That's just pleasant on hot days. Otherwise, the distances are long, very varied and well thought out the holes. Both places make a lot of pleasure from start to finish.

Definitely take mosquito repellent, just in the shadow of the game is otherwise unbearable. The service and reception are friendly and professional, the prices fair, the whole plant just beautiful. And after the game you can in the pool to cool down, which is included in the price. Any time!

Impressive Golf Course

Meanwhile, the golf course has two 18-hole courses features (not 18 & 9 holes).
We played the "old" Plalz. He is very well laid out. The whole atmosphere is consistent - even with the clubhouse.
The end of October were the Greens already punched and verified and that was after staying at the GC Coline de Gavi the day before - with "Super Greens" were a bit disappointing.
But we will visit the place again and then hopefully find better greens.

Enjoyable golf game

When: Early April 2014 Weather: sunshine Place: Marchesa, classic parkland course with mature trees, even in hot weather, to play well, thanks to the old trees. Opportunities for all skill levels an experience. Staff in the Secretariat friendly. Green fee 40 € in the preseason WT.
The clubhouse is not hard to beat in style.
Fairways: Grass tight and well grown. Nursing top condition, also thanks to the mild winter.
Semi-rough: uniformly cut, tight, fast losing possession possible.
Greens: Airifiziert and sanded (usual at this season work) Still good playable, hard and fast.
My favorite place in this region.

Challenging game

We played the golf course Villa Carolina on a Friday in early May, 2013, unannounced. We paid 130 euros for two green fees and golf cart. The fairways were super varied and excellently maintained. It is recommended, however, to play on the Faireways because the semi-rough was so deep and so strong from grass blades was that these beats prepared already no joy. How is it to play from the rough, so you can you imagine yourself. A feast for the eyes is the plant with its gigantic clubhouse definitely!
My conclusion: the place I will definitely play again in the hope the next time öffters on the fairways to

The walk up to the Villa Carolina is already a dream! Above the villa overlooking the golf course. A wonderful place sometimes between vineyards and stunning views over again!
Everything was very neat - greenfee weekdays good price!
We will definitely be back!
