The golf course is a successful combination of practicing golf on the highest international level and relaxing in the midst of nature. Despite the technical difficulties of the game and the challenges of the two courses, a stay at this club becomes a special event. Since 1999, the club has been hosting the Deutsche Bank SAP Open four times, Tiger Woods was the three times winner at St. Leon-Rot golf club.

Out of the club comfort zone, into championship golf

I played both courses in St. Leon-Rot and found the difference between the two particularly interesting. St. Leon is the more open, sportier championship course with wider fairways, plenty of water, and bunkers that are pretty much exactly where you don't want the ball to end up. Rot is more classic, more mature, and more tactical, with old trees, biotopes, and some holes where using your head is definitely more important than simply going for distance.
When we were there, the German Grand Prix was also taking place, so there was plenty of sporting action. The weather, however, was more like the end of the world: it was pouring rain at times. The buggies were quickly wrapped in plastic sheeting to protect them from the wind and rain, and in the end, they looked a bit like mobile greenhouses. But it worked surprisingly well.
It was all the more impressive how well both courses were in despite the weather. Fairways and greens were in excellent condition, the greens fast and true. For me, the red course is slightly more tactical and at times more challenging, while St. Leon feels a bit more generous without being boring.
I also really enjoyed the food. After 18 holes of continuous rain, almost everything probably tastes better, but here it was genuinely good and much more than just the obligatory clubhouse schnitzel.

I don't know where the previous reviewers were. We were allowed to play St. Leon and found the green fee, which was 20% higher than the surrounding area, to be very reasonable compared to the region. You're greeted by a sea of flowers.
There was a brief hiccup in the clubhouse. When making the reservation, they had claimed that carts didn't need to be reserved, but upon arrival, they were all taken. Somehow, it worked out after all. Some people seem to be more equal than others here. Greetings to Orwell...
The edges of the paths were clearly manicured with nail scissors. The extensive training facilities; the chipping area alone is unparalleled in Germany. St. Leon is rich in water and, above all, in bunkers, with a top-notch design based on the principle of "difficult par, doable bogey," although the latter is achievable if you avoid both the water and the bunkers. We didn't quite manage to achieve it. FLAWLESS fairways, PERFECT greens; the fact that the bunker sand is top-notch will certainly come as no surprise to the reader. The course is ideal for greenkeeper training.
At the first tee/18th green of St. Leon's course is a "halfway house" (also for the short course) that would easily pass as a super clubhouse elsewhere. This is our number 1 in Germany. St. Dionys, Falkenstein, Winston, Föhr, and Hardenberg shouldn't be disappointed (we haven't been to Ingolstadt in a long time). Cheers to all!

The practice greens are located between the clubhouse and the two courses, the long range is at the end of the facility - the supply is guaranteed by a great halfway house. Over the years - also through the previous European Tour tournaments - the club has acquired prestige, which is also visible.
The “Red” course is a long and wide parkland course. The newer of the two places “St. Leon” is left-inspired and more demanding, more varied. Both courses are maintained in an exemplary manner and are in the best condition from the tee box to the green - including the paths - depending on the weather and climate.
The facilities for the youth academy and fitness for the teams are impressive, visible in the teams and their results.
