Beautiful and challenging course

The course is worth a visit for many reasons: First the venue:the course is located over the sea and offers a stunning view, the fairways are bordered by beautiful vineyards and trees. The course is part of the domain of the Grand Hotel San Michele which itself is very spectacular. In addition the staff is very friendly and professional (especially the pro Gabriele which gives excellent golf lessons). The course, the driving range and the practice areas are well maintained. Highly recommended!

Unconventional

Never before have I left such a neglected facility with such a broad grin.
The course condition is struggling, but at least in January, rather unsuccessfully, to earn a second star; the location and the panorama are worth 5 stars. And the club manager/groundskeeper/man for everything deserves 6 stars.

After reading the reviews here, I already had a pretty good idea of what to expect, but the warmth of the welcome still pleasantly surprised me. After being invited for coffee as a welcome gesture, I was driven around the entire course in a golf cart – a service that proved quite helpful, as some of the holes are difficult to judge from the tee. Thus equipped, I played the course quite well, putting aside, because the greens are covered with Bermuda grass, which doesn't grow in winter and is therefore bumpy and slow.

Nevertheless, I'm incredibly glad I visited this unusual facility. It's precisely because of experiences like this that I travel all over Europe with my bag.

I paid 30 euros for 9 holes on a Sunday.

A different golf course

It's really difficult to rate this course. The 5-star views and the friendliness of the club owner are overshadowed by the 2-star condition of the course and the overall state of the facilities (clubhouse, changing rooms, driving range, no food or drink options). It's obvious everywhere that money is tight. However, the club owner really makes the most of the limited budget, which in turn makes the whole place quite charming. The course is on a small plot of land and therefore had to be squeezed in somewhat. This results in very narrow fairways that demand extremely precise play. This makes it exciting and challenging, but on some holes it's almost questionable (hole 9 has a 10-20m wide "tube" that you have to hit from the tee). The fairways and tee boxes are in quite decent condition on most holes. The greens are rather poor and bumpy. Not for golfers who need a proper course, but a fun experience if you're just passing through. I wouldn't go out of my way for that spot, but we'll definitely play it again when we're in the area.
