Characteristics
The golf course is not exactly easy to play and demands for a partly precise game. The exquisite location at the reeds and the abundance of water with natural areas offers a home for wild ducks, swans, greylag geese, storks, grey herons and great white egrets. It is a wonderful experience to play on this course, which is in line with nature, looks tame, but is difficult to play.

18 holes with the Leitha mountains in the background, nice scenery for a twilight greenfee.
I suppose this course differs much from one season to the other. I played in early autumn and almost all the water hazards were completely gone (dried up). The fairways were very bad, large pieces of fairway were repaired with new grass roles. The greens had lots of pitchmarks but were quite fast, most greens were flat as a pancake.
All together the lay-out was OK and several holes had very nasty rough. The DR was quite large. The clubhouse looked nice standing on poles as the Neusiedlersee propably rises in the spring.
Worth the twilight greenfee, I suppose this course is best played in late spring or early summer.

A very friendly welcome, the weather was cloudy and windy, not warm, and the game flowed very well. Played in 3.5 hours. The layout is simple, the course isn't particularly well-maintained, and the greens are slow. The price of €90 is too high. Nevertheless, it's fun to play here.

Donnerskirchen is always good for a relaxed, pleasant and interesting day of golf. The reception is so warm and friendly that you are almost amazed, as are the people on the course, the marshal and the restaurant staff. You feel very comfortable. The course is lively, manageable for every handicap, varied and fair. Course maintenance is mediocre except for the greens, which were lightning fast and very well maintained. If you have problems with direction or hit too far, you will lose a few balls, especially if it is windy. If you play carefully, you can finish the round without losing a ball despite the many water hazards, reeds, high rough and lots of bushes. Opinions differ on one thing: there is an incredible amount of animal life on the course, especially geese and swans as well as countless nutrias. This inevitably leads to a lot of droppings on the fairways. If you love animals, you will tolerate this, especially as the young ones are incredibly cute. If you have a real problem with that, then you should avoid the place. The place reminds me a lot of Grado, only it is much closer...
