The Golf Club Hohenpähl is situated in wavey terrain and from 12 holes it offers dream-like views on the Alps. The fairways run through a park-like landscape with a very old, partly majestic stock of trees. The course demands a good technique because of numerous pools, brooks that accompany the fairways and several sloping positions. You will experience beautiful nature and a lot of quietude.

More forest and meadow than I thought

The first nine has a lot of blind shots. That's actually interesting if you know the course. On my own, without a partner and without any knowledge, I couldn't find five balls, even though I thought the ball belonged there. The target post on holes 3 or 4 didn't help. It was right over the top, and the ball couldn't be found. Does that apply to the red or yellow tee? So, definitely play with a club member!
I was about to give up in frustration, but then I played sight-first with irons up to hole 11. But then suddenly there was a ditch in front of the green. You should take photos of the good tee boards and check the distance and lie with every shot. Some tee boxes were unevenly positioned, but straight ones would have worked! The pin position is often 2 m from the edge of the green. Not easy on elevated greens, even if you are there often in regulation. From hole 11 onwards it became clearer and suddenly a lot of fun with a super score. Lots of great forest paths. All the par 3s are super interesting. Tee off on hole 14? From the forest on the mat aiming for Zugspitzplatt. Or hole 5? Signature hole par 3, ditto. Course easy to walk with a carry bag.

We also had very long grass on the tees, at the driver tee level. Overall, there was hardly any fairway, lots of stubble as semi-rough, and plenty of ball hunting. The cart constantly blares, and you don't know exactly where to drive. Even when you reach the fairway, the cart sounds an alarm and won't turn off.

We had high expectations and were disappointed. The course location is great, but unfortunately there are some very difficult holes with blind approaches and sloping fairways, which are difficult to predict in dry conditions. Additionally, the pin position is always either at the very front or at the back of the edge, making it difficult to play. Some tee boxes weren't mown, and the grass was as high as semi-rough, meaning you had to tee up high and it was almost impossible to play with irons. The food was no better, unfortunately; the pasta was cold, and even after we asked for it to be warmed up, it was still cold... We won't be playing there again any time soon; there are several much better courses in the Munich area.
