Challenging

Very challenging course with great greens. Fairways were a bit wet and muddy. Roughs on se ond nine are killing. Bring your accuracy in shape on this course. Amenities are ok, well maintained driving range. Weak point here is hole 19th. Honestly would expect better service, especially on weekends. As I always review whole picture I say its just average compare to other places I already visited.

Get your iron play into shape, the starting and finishing holes demand it. Fantastic and challenging course. Great experience all the way around. Nice reception, friendly players. Only bad hole was the 19. I ordered a carpaccio. I ended up facing a plate of grey meat which turned out to be deep frozen. I send it back and soon after the chef entered with the same plate of frozen meat and explained that this is how it is supposed to be. I shrugged it off, left my plate and paid. I will be playing the course again, but next time I will eat somewhere else.

...You can see from this place that at first it only had 9 holes that come from a different time period - that's not negative.
Bernhard von Limburger built the first nine, these were revised and expanded to 18 holes by Donald Harrad Harradine in the 1990's.
The course, built in hilly surroundings - with beautiful views of the valley - convinces with good care.
The score card is deceptive - averaging less than 350 yards back tees per hole, it's not that long - only two par 4s of over 400 yards. It's the terrain transitions that cause work on some holes, also because some are quite narrow.
The first six holes are played on the original course, then the new holes are played until you are back on the 16.
You can really put your foot down on the new holes and let the driver do the work, while on the old holes mostly only a 3 wood was played from the tee.
Holes 9 and 11 are the most exciting for us.
The terrain transitions ensure sportiness, also the sometimes long distances from the green to the tee, the place is easy to walk on.
It was great fun, we were last here 10 years ago.
We give a solid four stars - five is a bit too much for us.

I've played here a few times this year and have always found the course to be in good condition. I noticed that because it had been unusually cold and rainy for the last two or three months, which must have made maintenance very difficult. I find the course very challenging, I never get bored, every track has its own character. This is ensured by the topography and the course layout. The greens are faithful and neatly fast.
I've gotten used to the long walk between the old and the new square and on the way back I have enough time to prepare myself mentally and morally for the "Amen Corner"! This name for lanes 16,17 and 18 is absolutely correct and I love challenges! I suspect whoever plays their handicap in Hechingen plays it everywhere.
The place also offers visual treats! Whenever I play hole 1, turn around and enjoy the view of Hohenzollern Castle, which towers majestically into the sky in the extension! Imposing! Whenever I look to the left from the patio, I think it looks like a park, but it's the fairways of Amen Corner. The terrace is ideally located with a view of the 18th green with the long pond in front of it.
The gastronomy is good, everyone here is nice, the members, gastronomy, board and of course the ladies from the secretariat! I like coming here and I really feel at home here!

As a beginner, we played our first "normal" round on the golf course yesterday and found the course extremely interesting and varied. We were amazed at how much it paces up and down on individual tracks. At the end of lane 3 we were almost out of breath. For HCP54 it is very challenging, but definitely playable.
The place is well marked and the paths are all easy to find. We were welcomed in a very straightforward and friendly manner in the secretariat. We will definitely be back.

I played the first time the place last year and equal part in the four championships.
