Characteristics
The Golf Club Hammetweil is situated only a 20 minutes' drive south of Stuttgart, at the southern slope above the Neckar River - with a dream-like view on the Swabian Mountains. The course was designed in 2004 by the golf course architect Reinhold Weishaupt on the area of the estate Hammetweil near Neckartenzlingen. It offers many challenges like numerous water hazards and extraordinary bunkers. The first nine holes were embedded harmoniously into the hilly landscape down the valley, the second 9 holes are situated behind the clubhouse. Especially spectacular are the hole 5 with its island green as well as the hole 8 with a large reservoir. The spacious driving range, a putting green as well as the chipping and pitching area offer varied training possibilities.

We played in Hammetweil for the first time about two weeks ago. The reception was friendly, even if the young man seemed a little inexperienced. The course is beautifully situated and everything seems rather upscale. There are no tee times, but that wasn't a problem on this holiday morning. We were obviously ahead of most of the others and only had to let two flights start ahead of us.
The course itself is quite varied, although the par 3 and par 5 holes are of a manageable length and the par 4 holes are the ones where you have to keep your score together. The course looks well-maintained and we had nothing to complain about if the greens hadn't been miserably slow. They were aerated a week ago and haven't been cut since. But that shouldn't cost us a point here.
What is not worth the 5th star for me are the green fee prices. For a green fee of €129 you should be able to play in the top league of golf courses. Compared to other courses in the area, the course is certainly one of the better ones, but it does not justify the price. I can play just as well not far away for €30-40 less.

Have played this course several times in the past few years and was mostly satisfied despite the very high green fee. The location and the layout are really good. The par 4 holes even very sporty overall! Without start times, it was always possible to play through quickly. A drink on one of the most beautiful golf terraces is a must. The interior of the clubhouse is also very successful.
Unfortunately, a big minus is the condition of the greens. Not to compare with the top resorts in the region!!! The greenkeeping team still has a lot of potential here! With better course maintenance, the golf club Hammetweil could well compete with facilities such as Schönbuch and Solitude.

Why 3 of 18 aerated were no idea - but was not dramatic!!
Only criticism is the price for the greenfee 90 € / WE 105 € it is not worth - there is for less in the area!
