Characteristics
The 27-hole course of the GC Gut Apeldör is characterised by heavily wavey greens and is beautifully integrated into the typical sandy heathland and hedgerow landscape between Nordsee and Eider. The wavey holes pose a sportive challenge, especially because of numerous large water hazards that border fairways and guard greens. The 27 holes consist of the red, yellow and green courses and offer a very good overall package.
Different loops are formed from these 3 places and game combinations for lots of variety and new challenges.

It's a typical Schleswig-Holstein course, shaped like a curve in the landscape. It's a former 18-hole course, which is quite difficult to play, as the greens are very challenging to putt. And a former public 9-hole course, which is very easy to play. More suitable for beginners. These courses are now offered in various combinations as 9- and 18-hole courses. I really can't imagine that this is what the inventor (Krause) intended.
The condition of the course is adequate, but not impressive. The greens were rather slow. The green fee of €100 is shocking, which bears no relation to the course offered. There are significantly better courses in this price range, especially since any combination of greens is frustrating.

Unfortunately, Apeldör no longer has the Big Apple as a championship course and the separate Big 9. Since this year there is a yellow, a red and a green loop, with the green loop being the old Big 9. Occasionally the old championship course (now yellow/red) is still marked as an 18-hole course, but very often you have to start the 18 holes on the green loop. This means you have to play a less attractive and challenging course, of course with the same high green fee, since everything is now the Big Apple. This is a scam... I will therefore withdraw my original 5-star rating.

Played the Big9 course in September. The course was in good condition, but otherwise not very spectacular. Most of the holes are straight, but they are quite demanding just because of the length, e.g. hole 4 with 544m of yellow.
But what I experienced off the pitch really shocked me.
We wanted to hit a few more balls on the driving range and stood to the right of the huts on the line that was stretched in front of the mats. The four of us stood there until a golfer came and stood on the mat right next to me. When I said that it was too dangerous for me and that he had to take off the leash (at least it said on the sign), the answer I received was: Yes, I know, but I could step aside more.
The two of us stood on the first tee. There were three golfers standing there and about to tee off. We asked what your start time was. In response we got. We're doing the second lap here and don't need any tee times and want to tee off in front of you. At the registration I was told that a start time is absolutely necessary. At least you did let us in after a short discussion.
We had just knocked off on hole 3 when two golfers ran across the fairway in front of the green. At the passage to hole 4 there is a sign “Passage forbidden” and you have to go around the outside to hole 8. I can't explain why this little detour is too far for golfers who go 9 holes.
After the round we wanted to have a drink in the restaurant. A golfer wanted to go to his table there, but instead of taking the stairs, he trampled through the flowers.
I have now played 84 different golf courses, but I have never seen anything like it.
On the positive side, I would like to mention the fact that all employees at the registration desk and in the restaurant were very friendly. Therefore still 3 stars.
One can only hope that we had bad luck that day and that these conditions are not the norm. Otherwise a marshal would have a lot to do.
