Excellent for visitors

We played this course in June 2012 as part of a tour of the Black Forest and what a gem it is. Tthe staff were extremely friendly and spoke very good English and the Members were welcoming and helpful.
The course was very well presented with a great mix of difficulty (watch out for the 11th). The natural hazards are beautifully blended into the course and the greens were varied but always true. The facilities and restaurant were of a very high standard and good value. A very pleasant day on a wonderful course.

A place with special moments

Played in mid-October. The course was very well maintained and it was fun to play there, although unfortunately it was still raining on the first few holes. Hole 11 is very unusual, a tip when registering (the gentleman there was a bit taciturn) or a note, especially for players like us who didn't know the course, would be appropriate, especially since the tee on 12 is dangerously within reach and from the tee is not visible. A very unusual and challenging course, but one that I would love to play again with my local knowledge! The following lanes are too close to each other for my taste, which can be very annoying when there is more activity and can sometimes be dangerous for players on the neighboring lane if the game is inaccurate. The men's tees are sometimes very far back and in a forest aisle, so you shouldn't risk too much. The restaurant was very nice, the food was delicious and worth the price. We would definitely like to come back!

A little idiosyncratic, but also a little inconsistent

We played in Freudenstadt for the first time, thanks to the Schwarzwald Plus card it was basically free and of course it was a great offer. But if you take the normal green fee as a basis, then I unfortunately have to say that it's not a top place for me personally.
On the one hand, the layout is a bit unconventional and by that I don't even mean the 9 and 11 that have already been described in other reviews. What rather annoyed me was that men's tees were often set far back in a lane, especially on the Back9. You often have to use shorter clubs to get out of the lane safely, but the lanes are too long for that. Furthermore, for example, you would actually have to play the 13 over the 14 against the direction of the game in order to shorten it, which would not be forbidden, but cannot be in the inventor's spirit. On the tee on the 10 you can easily kill the players on the green on the 2, which I almost managed to do with a distorted tee shot. And a 217 m par3? Seriously! I find that very idiosyncratic.
On the other hand, the condition of care was not good when we visited. The fairways were too long and very irregularly cut, so there were random areas and stripes in the middle of the fairway that looked like first cut. Unfortunately, the entire fairway was mostly a first cut and the first cut was rather low rough. With this level of care, every track becomes even longer and isn't much fun in the long run.
The restaurant is actually very nice. Unfortunately, we were not offered cake or other food in the afternoon. They were probably more for members.
If you want to practice inclines and difficult space conditions, you can do so here. The place is anything but boring or monotonous, which is why I'm happy to give it 3 stars. But it's not enough for me to get a top ranking.
