I played this week on Father's Day. The greens were aerated and sanded – as were some of the fairways – making regular play impossible. Nevertheless, handicap play was still effective. What bothered me most, however, was that the full green fee was still charged.
If I'd known this beforehand, I would have canceled. It gives the impression that this is about the green fee and not about satisfied guests. What a shame...

I have now played all 27 holes several times; everything is very well maintained and all the holes are beautiful, which makes playing golf fun.
Now for the criticism: I find it very expensive, especially if you're on vacation for three weeks and want to play multiple times. The only offer is €1,100 for 10 plays, a €100 discount. We don't need anything else, said a lady. Pride comes before a fall!
The pricing was also a thorn in the side of the other guests I spoke to.
Furthermore, the rule is that if you want to play the 9-hole color that is not available at 18 that day, it is only available from 1 PM??!!
I can understand that tee times are reserved for club members, but if only one or two people are playing, you can't book yourself as a guest, which is strange - the islanders probably want to be among themselves.
Despite my personal criticism, the golf course is top notch.

I've played the course more than 30 times in the last few years and after the last redesign it has become even better, but also more difficult.
The layout, sometimes with a links feel, sometimes more like a parkland course, varies across the 27 holes, but is always challenging. The almost always strong wind and lightning-fast, extremely undulating greens offer plenty of challenges for experienced golfers; in my opinion, the course is too difficult for beginners.
The restaurant is still highly recommended after the change of ownership and unfortunately, like everywhere else these days, it is expensive.
I would rank Föhr among my top 10 favorites worldwide, and for many years I spent two weeks there each year. This brings me to the downside: the green fee has now risen to €110, and one gets the impression that the very wealthy members aren't particularly interested in green-fee players.
Since prices on Föhr are generally very high, a week's holiday on Föhr for two people, including daily golf, can easily cost more than €3,000. We've therefore said goodbye to Föhr and won't be returning. If you don't mind the price, you'll find a fantastic golf course that will present a great challenge even for very good players.
