Ranked number 1 in Switzerland in many rankings! The clubhouse is incredibly impressive and the first 9 holes offer truly varied courses.
Anyone familiar with Pete and Perry O. Dye courses, like myself, will be surprised (disappointed is the wrong word) by how little the "US monster designers" have done, especially on the back nine. The landscape and design of the first nine holes are harmonious, but the back nine, with its up-and-down layout, could have benefited from the bulldozers and earthmoving of the famous Pete Dye. I want to make it clear, though, that the course is in superb condition, top-notch! But the clientele and members are predominantly over 65. That probably also explains the (for this course) almost slow greens!
Imperial is a rightly highly praised top course!
But it's not a spectacular world-class course; despite its immediate location on the lake, you only see that on the putting green, on the old 18th hole, and on the rebuilt 18th! Hole 12 is being transformed into an exciting peninsula green; the wooden planking green looks fantastic…!
You can pay the high fee once, but the place as a whole isn't really worth it.
But as always, it's a matter of taste; a somewhat tame and less-than-numerous Dye Course, but still a beautiful and fair top course!

Domaine Imperial has not been chosen by many as the best place in Switzerland. Of course, the impressive clubhouse with views over Lake Geneva and the noble trappings (including a very high green fee) do their part. For me, something else is decisive: The course offers enjoyable golf, regardless of the level of play. The design of Pete Dye is surprisingly more European than American, is amazingly unspectacular for this architect (including Barbaroux in southern France or West Cliffs in Portugal). The course is very fair, many fairways are quite open despite the location in a dense trees. There is little water, the bunkers are used rather discreetly and the greens are generous. So at the end of the round, the impression remains: Here the joy of the game is at the center, not the search for the maximum difficulties or the ego of the designer.
