Excellent
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed September 28, 2021
Having moved to the area from Dubai I was looking for a home course. I couldn’t been happier here. It’s not the manicure of Dubai of course but this is an excellent test of your golf. Great greens. Fairways really make you think and play your way around the course. And it’s not just about hitting the ball as far as you can, and then doing it again. This is real golf. The most beautiful scenery on the course plus views of the lakes that make a poor round of golf worthwhile. Great helpful staff just a proper golf club.

I have played here many times and have enjoyed it every time. The course is hilly up and down through gorgeous birch trees. It's all pretty narrow and not necessarily in perfect condition but the last time I was there both fairways and greens were great. The are long walks between some greens and tees but particularily between the 9 th and 10th. Th club provides a shuttle to take you there and back. Nevertheless this is a course where a buggy is a good idea (for those of us over 60).
There are stunning views as far as Milan from the higher holes.
The clubhouse is straightforward and welcoming. Good food and wine. Do not miss out on eating here.

Currently very well maintained and even greens and fairways. The lake view on the first 9 holes is beautiful. Would play again anytime!

Beautiful view
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed June 19, 2023
Very nice place. From some holes there is a magnificent view over Lake Maggiore.
The first 9 holes are nicer than the second nine. The course is in very good condition, although it has rained heavily in the past few days. Toilet on site: none. Drink dispensers are also missing. Some very long ways to the tees. Cart is recommended here.
The clubhouse is, well. Restaurant is mediocre. We didn't get anything to eat at 3:30 p.m. except a toast.
Overall a nice place with a beautiful view. Should you have played, but once is enough 😏
Cherasco Golf Club is much better here.

Dear Sir, thank you very much for your feed back.
We have a toilet behind the 9th green.
And we have drinkable water on course. every few holes. (hole 3, hole 4, hole 6, hole 9, hole 14, hole 16).
We are to build a halfway bar in the near future, so next year you should be able to use it.
We are on the hill side so the golf cart is often a option.

Mountain golf in the forest with a view of the Lago
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed August 8, 2022
I played the course twice in July 2022. He deserves to play a second time.
Brief conclusion in advance: you certainly don't play the course because of the first-class maintenance condition, but more because of the experience up in the forest, the view and the entertaining tracks. Not an everyday place for me, you are too dependent on a cart for that, but a nice holiday spectacle. I liked the second 9 better, hole 12 was my highlight. Hole 11 spectacular but actually too dangerous in full operation of a place.
Positive:
Great view of some holes on the Lago. In contrast to many alpine courses, you play here on the crest, not in the valley.
Nevertheless, many beautiful forest passages, you really feel in nature here.
Greens in good shape and the fairways were fine, despite the drought in northern Italy.
Estimate the space much better on the second play. A few balls were gone the first time because you sometimes don't know where the ball went with all the blind shots. The second time I almost took my ball home with me (unfortunately I lost it out of bounds when playing the 18th green).
The place is also made for friends of the driver, some passages are more for precise irons.
There are some spectacular Raufhammer tees, most notably hole 11 (carry about 150m into the valley) and 12 (carry about 200m downhill across water with a 90 degree dogleg if you dare.).
Friendly reception, clubhouse ok, didn't eat anything but others did.
Not so convincing:
Driving range available, let's call it that.
You are (in my opinion, I'm in my early 40s and athletic) better advised with a cart, otherwise it's too exhausting, there's a lot of up and down, I wouldn't have wanted to walk that.
In some places, the cart paths are real off-road slopes over hill and dale. In general, the cart bounces quite a bit on the course, you should drive carefully..
Away from the fairway, the ball is always gone because it is in the woods or bush.
Place has some blind spots. Luckily I had missed the tee shot on hole 5, because suddenly two cars appeared completely unexpectedly from behind a crest. There are no bells or anything similar to clear the runway.
Hole 11 is cool, but far too dangerous. From yellow you hammer what feels like 50 meters down over a ridge. The hole then curves to the left. Ultimately, you can hit everything that's running around right up to the green, but you don't necessarily see whether anyone else is on the lane or, for example, is on the left side of the lane. In my opinion far too dangerous, here the operator has to make sure somehow that the person teeing off knows whether the lane is free and the people who are on the lane feel safe that someone is not already starting up, because if a 240 meter + 50 meters high a grenade hits, it's definitely pitch black afterwards. To be on the safe side, I parked my cart in the middle of the fairway to be visible. There are possibilities, dear golf club, bells or even better rotating signal pillars, I've seen a lot of good things on blind lanes in other clubs in the Alps.

Sensational views
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed September 21, 2021
We played here in September in lovely golf weather. We come from the Bergisches Land and are in good physical condition, but we took a kart on the second lap, which is helpful. Daily green fee 55 EUR with Italia Golf and more is absolutely fine. Even if the maintenance condition is rather mediocre, you will always be rewarded with beautiful views along the way. The layout is interesting and varied with many different facets.

In the forest on the mountain
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed June 16, 2021
Diverse, through the forest, but still plenty of space for long drives. Has 6 tees, there should be something for every handicap. Came very well on foot with electric trolleys, despite the hilly design and about 3x longer distance between the holes.

A natural experience
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed June 9, 2021
We played the course in early June 2021 and were pleasantly surprised. The place is very hilly, so a cart is recommended. The holes are very interesting and varied. The tees / fairways and greens were in very good condition. You play through beautiful birch forests and always have great views of Lake Maggiore and the surrounding mountains - a dream landscape and very quiet! If you are in the area this place should be played!

Very fun place
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed September 7, 2020
A very hilly place with beautiful views of Lake Maggiore and the nearby mountains.
exhausting but always exciting. At least one electric trolley is recommended due to the steep inclines. The order of the lanes has now been adjusted so that a shuttle is no longer required between the 9 and the 10.
The greens are fast and the fairways are well maintained. Some connecting routes are very bumpy.
Gastronomy and club house are kept very simple.
We would love to come back.

... although we are on foot very well, based on the reviews we booked 2 buggies that were absolutely rated! The high place leads through dense birch forests (almost Scandinavian flair)! The design is extra class, exciting, difficult, challenging!
The greens were perfect!
For me, a finger's breadth from Varese!

Sporting change
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed October 4, 2019
We, both HCP 10, have played the course years ago. Varied courses with a lot of height difference require good condition. Also, the long paths between Green, which are fast, by the way, and tee are Powerfull with a hand trolley. The fairways are well overgrown. Offside, where you should not be, the quality decreases. We will be back.

An absolute experience in every way!
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed March 20, 2017
This place has inspired me in every way! Ranging from service and the standard of maintenance, to the always varied challenging fairways! It goes up and down constantly to changing challenges come by water hazards and / or bunker.
The impressions in the surrounding countryside round the whole off again. There is even a chapel off the fairway. The way to the next tee are often longer than usual, but are attractive because of the nature by which lead them. From 9 holes to tee 10 can be can be run and who is not able to walk well, a Cart else could take! Compared to many "more notable" clubs around (Castelconturbia, Bogogno, Ruby) would my decision always fall in favor of the 18 holes. Therefore, an absolute must and full justly 5 Stars!

In the hills above the western shore of Lake Maggiore in absolute Grünruhelage. The place is in summer 2016 in good maintenance condition. The fairways are almost all in the forest and are relatively narrow. There are some water hazards and sand bunkers course. For me, the very hilly course is very challenging but wonderful to play. I can recommend the place highly - it is this is a top place and at an absolutely attractive price (green fee EUR 50.-)

Beautifully positioned, hilly, with some water. Fairways and greens are in good condition. To do well with eTrolly. Precise Match beneficial. The tracks are always separated from one another. Partial long distances between the paths, the state could be better. Price performance is OK. Very friendly and helpful staff. Our current faforit. We keep coming back.

Poor maintenance condition
2.0 of 5 starsReviewed June 8, 2015
The paths from one green to the next tee are long and not well maintained.
Power itself with Cart no fun. Without Cart pure stress. Very long distances.
For members there is a shuttle service from 9 to 10 degrees.
We were on 6.2.2015 in the square.
Din fairways often a disaster. Very poorly maintained.
In particular, the first 9 holes.

4.0 of 5 starsReviewed September 30, 2013
EinGolfplatz that is challenging, precise game is often announced, you can hardly even fairways, but the scenery, the view - just super.
As always the place to go from very reason, because we want to enjoy the view of the surroundings. After 18 holes, we know what we have done.
From hole to hole 9 to 10 is free on request, also with trolley, transported in a VW bus, a great service.
We are looking forward to our next visit.

Must not play! Away from the fairways very sparse and the balls jump like on asphalt. Paths and cart tracks full of rocks and roots. It has given me the front wheel torn off the trolley (carbon), so hard it was! Only the greens were very nice.

4.0 of 5 starsReviewed June 6, 2013
We played 2 times the square end of May and loved it. Based on the assessments set we rented a car and do not regret it, although we generally prefer to "leave" a golf course.
The place was in spite of the rainy spring in good condition, only the bunkers had very little sand and therefore were to play poorly.
Definitely take a camera, there are spectacular views of the mountains and Lake Maggiore, particularly from the 18th hole

Very nice located place surrounded by birch forest.
I have visited this place several times and never been disappointed. The place was always in a very good condition.
It is advisable to book due to the vastness and height differences a cart.
Conclusion: A very varied kept place.

Very varied and beautiful place
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed April 29, 2013
Overall, I played 4 times already on this wonderful Golfanalge and was always on the condition of the fairways, greens and bunkers very pleased. The course is nestled in a beautiful birch forest and provides certain breathtaking views of Lake Maggiore (in particular of hole 18). The difficulty is rather high, since that area is hilly, and the holes are usually very long. My conclusion to the Golf Club des Iles Borromées is: varied, exacting and in harmony with nature.. and not to forget the VERY reasonable price of the green fees.

Ok, the summer was long and hot, but the place in better condition might be. The fairways are deserts with a few grass on it. This is too little sand in the bunkers. If you want to run the place, you have to adapt to long distances between the tees. My conclusion: if possible, avoid this place.

One expects more clearly when you drive up to this mountain. The up and down is hard and a cart would probably recommend. I was very disappointed by the quality of the fairways are really very unkempt. The Green area is somewhat in order. Even the comparatively low green fee price is not worth it. Pity

More shine than reality
2.0 of 5 starsReviewed September 8, 2012
The name and the location of the club overlooking Stresa on Lake Maggiore suggested that it would at least of some fairways have a look at the Borromean Islands, Lake Maggiore. This was unfortunately not the case. The place is not very interesting and has no spectacular fairways on. The condition in late August was extremely poor. Particularly annoying is that all the greens were sanded and we thereon neither the agreement with our telephone tee time or when payment (but cheap) green fees have been advised of this fact was.
This place we will certainly not play again.
