Characteristics

Founded in 1912, Golf Club de Granville offers a truly authentic links experience, a rarity in France. Designed by the renowned Harry S. Colt, the championship 18-hole course is carved through natural dunes, evoking the spirit of traditional Scottish layouts. A second 9-hole course, "Les Dunes," complements the main challenge. Located in Normandy, the club boasts breathtaking views of the sea and the Chausey archipelago. The clubhouse features the "L'Albatros" restaurant, where golfers can relax while overlooking the rugged coastal landscape.

Fantastic course

We played this course two years ago. It is as good a links course as I have ever played. If you are going to this part of France it must be on your list of courses to play. Fantastic views from the tees and fairways that are hidden from view - go play

A must for fans of real links golf

The course is in great condition, a true links golf like you would expect from Scotland (only with better weather...).
The course is hard, with dry grass in places. The rough is often not very dense, but still a serious problem, as it's never actually in a good position in the rough. The fairways and greens undulate as they should, constantly challenging your imagination in your short game and putting. Even in your long game, it's helpful to know the contours of the terrain and play on the 'right' side.
I was very lucky to be able to play with a member (thank you Alain!!), even if some knowledge of the course is not synonymous with good play or score ;-)
The best holes: For me, the par 3s are actually the best, with the 16th standing out with its approximately 15m climb to the green on three sides. The uphill chip is either perfect or deserves a repeat... The par 4/5 holes, however, are hardly less exciting, never boring, and certainly very difficult in strong winds (which I didn't experience).
Unfortunately I only had time for one round, but if you like links golf and have time you'll probably enjoy playing here three or five times.
Clubhouse: Traditional English style, in keeping with the club's age. Cozy, with a lovely terrace. I can't comment on the food.
The office: Super friendly and they speak some English. A pro shop that sells more than just balls and basics.
Practice facility: In my opinion absolutely first class, even though one pitching green has just been overhauled.
