Characteristics

Founded in 1999, Golf Club Beřovice has established itself as a modern facility that respects its natural surroundings. The centerpiece is the 18-hole championship course designed by Austrian architect H.G. Erhardt. Uniquely for this area, it features a distinct links-style layout with demanding terrain profiling. The design cleverly utilizes the local valley and stream to create a sense of isolation, giving players the feeling of having the course to themselves. The round offers spectacular backdrops, including views of the iconic Mount Říp and the Central Bohemian Uplands. For practice, there is a public 9-hole Academy course (Par 27) perfect for short game, along with a driving range. The experience is completed by a welcoming clubhouse and restaurant suitable for post-game relaxation.

Once in 10 years

I played there 9 years ago without review, so I decided to go to tournament to have chance to review. Reach this course with google maps its easy. Parking lots are big enough close to driving, academy and reception.
So from this point course has all the amenities and in walking distance. Now to the course.
Opening hole is par 4 not difficult if you hit a good drive. Second hole par 3 than par 5 and etc. first interesting hole was hole number 4. Honestly saying this is not the type of course I prefer. Its build on "corn" field probably, so not many big trees around, its supposed to be links course, however roughs were dry and cut, so quite playable. Toughest hole on front nine is hole number 9. Now to back nine, there were few more interesting holes like, 15,16,18.
Quality at the time when I played, beginning of June was nothing special. Greens were each different speed, their quality was poor, despite they were quite fast. Tee boxes were horrible, lot of mess from broken tees and many divots on top that its tough to find a flat spot on them. Fairways were so so, not bad but not excellent. This all would be all good for reasonable price, however for price charged especially on weekend this course is quite pricey and not worth to play often. On top of this not very pleasant starter/ marshal would repel me to come back soon maybe again in 9 years. Receptionist on the other hand was very professional.
Weak point was also restaurant, the lunch we had was something what I had problem to find name for. So thanks for hospitality, but there are better courses in Czech for such a fee charged.

My favourite golf course

This course has grown into a lovely intimate place where you feel like going for a stroll on your own. Every hole is surrounded by little hills, bulges to create this sensation. The course is challenging, difficult from championship tees if you do not have the lenght, but scored accordingly in HCP calculation. Close to Prague, lovely staff, food on par.

Better than most people think it is

The course has two different parts. The first 9 are older and partially have grown trees. The second 9 have been added two or three years ago, and are more modern in style with quite open fairways and larger greens. All and all it turns out more challenging than expected.
Fairways are quite good (2012) with almost no weeds. Greens are reasonably good, but not very fast.
Located on two opposite sides of a valley, it can be quite a walk. Older players may want to take a cart.
Staff are friendly, and the clubhouse is simple with a family atmosphere. They serve a good coffee!
