1-9 nice, 10-18 mediocre – rather 3 than 4 stars

The first nine holes are worth 4 stars. the second nine is streched out in the valley and are OK to play – a bit boring in fact. nothing fancy.
Condition of the course was very good, top greens, top sand. the restaurant at the 19th worth a visit, good food.
After two visits i understand a former comment regarding the reception/pro shop. we had also our problems. a bit complicated, not customer minded – and harsh and sorry to say – some of the staff is lazy.

Amazing golf course

What a better experience and day's golf at Alvaneu Bad after yesterday's golf at Klosters. 18 holes off golf - excellent value for money and amazing views on a well maintained course - unlike Klosters.

--- demanding...

The square was built in two stages, so the name may confuse the first nine and the second nine. Holes 1-9 are the second nine that were built, while holes 10-18 are the first nine that were first played golf. It is very good that they are played this way because the physical exertion at the beginning is easier to master.

The layout cannot hide the development in two stages, the first nine in 1997 and the second nine in 2002. These holes 10-18 are the better ones for us - clearly - while holes 1-9 have been wrested from the mountains - in part.

Yes, the second nine are a bit noisy, they are very close to the Albula Pass road. The hand gas junkies can be a nuisance at times, as is the case today...

Hole 1 is fine. Holes 2 to 4, first up the mountain, then 3 and 4 along the mountain, are physically and playfully strenuous, they are rather narrow. The 3 and 4 were literally cut out of the mountain, clearing and massive earth movements were necessary. From hole 5 it becomes more comfortable, it goes downhill into the surface and the holes get better.

Overall, the attempt was made to build a square with as little earth movement as possible, which was very successful. He cannot hide the fact that the available area is rather tight, the holes are on average 330 meters long - back tees and often very narrow, even for long irons and small woods.

All of this makes this course difficult to play, when the rough is high it becomes even more difficult. The terrain is the big challenge, not the length of the holes. Target golf is a must, otherwise there will be balls that say goodbye to the green or water.

The mountains would be worth five stars, but not the narrow valley, the layout and the entire course maintenance - that doesn't mean it's not well done. The location in the Alps - almost 1000m above sea level - as well as the vegetation are the handicap. From the tee to the green, players have to deal with different types of grass. In addition, it takes until the sun can really work here, the position of the sun has to be really high.

Today the place was soft, the grass was partly quite high - due to the weather. The greens were very good, very tricky.
The remaining flies of the "winter-spring" are still clearly visible, as well as the work of the bird world that have obtained protein.

A clubhouse with very nice and courteous staff, good card.

All have given three stars, for five you need more...

There is a lot of goodwill in the five star ratings,

Only play in spring when Albulastrasse is still closed

Actually a 4-5 * star facility( wonderful landscape, very varied, interesting golf course in good condition and friendly reception but:
The second 9 holes are all on the Albulapassstrasse. The car and worse, the motorcycle noise is unbearable for almost 2 hours.
One of the loudest golf courses ever in 35 years.
There is also a reckless greenkeeper who circled the green twice with the mower while putting and an arrogant marshal who thinks that's okay too.
Every golfer understands that greens have to be aerated, but if half of the holes are not filled with sand and sloppily peeled off, it's just a ghost train!
Pity!

Super Golf Course

Super golf course with beautiful holes. To play the first holes rather hilly and tricky. The 2nd 9 rather flat but no less easy to play, because sometimes long with many water hazards. Maintenance condition 1A, green were rather slow and dull.

Very happy again

We played two wonderful rounds of golf in very good conditions. The course is beautifully situated in a wonderful setting, in the middle of the mountains. The fairways / greens are very well maintained. The first 9 holes are quite demanding, the second 9 are flatter - but not easier thanks to the water holes. Nice club house, nice people.
We will be happy to come back here.

Beautiful, varied golf course

Very friendly reception with spacious clubhouse. Hole 1-9 are adapted to the terrain and demanding. Up and down. Nestled in beautiful nature and despite the rather narrow valley with beautiful foresight. Nota bene also with a view of the Unesco World Heritage Site, the Rhaetian Railway with viaduct. Beautiful water hazards. Hole 10-18 are flat and beautifully embedded in nature. We will come back with great pleasure.

You can also see it differently

The majority of the reviewers seem to favor holes 1-9. I felt the other way round. 1-9 seemed unpredictable and sometimes even dangerous. If you only slightly distort the ball, the flights on the other fairways are quickly endangered. We have experienced several dangerous situations. 10-18 in the flat terrain were more beautiful and pleasant to play for us. But they are not much wider. The condition was excellent. The service in the restaurant too. The welcome / friendliness in the office was ok, if a bit dry and unhelpful.

Challenging course in beautiful surroundings

The first 9 holes are golf of the finest and fantastically placed in the landscape at the foot of the mountain (very hilly).
The second nine feel a bit tamer, but they are not really, except that the course runs in the valley floor and is rather flat.
the place is quite challenging with many obstacles (water, ditches, streams, trees). good restaurant on the 19th and who likes a nice thermal bath on the 20th

Beautiful scenery, but...

Who played the first 9 holes, will understand the first part of the title, who played the second 9 and the "but ...". Alvaneu is located in a narrow valley. The first tracks pull up the hill - precise play and a bit of fitness are needed. After returning to the clubhouse, the terrain becomes flatter - and even tighter. Nature dictates the possibilities and they are not always optimal for convincing golf holes. Overall, the round but varied and quite demanding. Who has his iron and Hybrinden under control is probably often better off than the Longhitter.

Wonderful

The location with the many streams and ponds between the mountains, just overwhelming. In addition the perfect condition and the friendly staff. Only the breeds (mosquitoes) and the relatively slow game between 11 and 15 o'clock are to get used to.

A round of golf in Alvaneu

Had read the tip here in the evaluation and booked a round Alvaneu. The place was very nice but the staff was tense and nervous. Well, maybe I just got the wrong day, or say something wrong. The food was good, prices ok (could be better).

Wonderful, one of the most beautiful places

In fine weather a treat: the first 9 something along the mountain, but only an increase, then flat and slightly sloping. Beautiful views. The 2.9 along the Albula in a beautiful parkland. The condition is excellent. Secretariat, pro shop and club house are very nice. Only the quality of the restaurant has room for improvement if the salad is not fresh but already more prepared and a little stale and the service despite repeated requests no 2-mineral supplies...
All in all a wonderful day.

Incredibly nice, just to know!

This golf course is from A to Z unbelievable.

That beautiful new clubhouse rusikalen style is a feast for the eyes. Super pro shop, very nice service in secreteriat, beautiful wardrobes and a very good restaurant.

After man has served in the clubhouse is man on the golf course again torn by the beauty and especially the abwechsulngsreichen 18 holes.

And at the conclusion man may be in the sulfur and spa that is located immediately next to relax and unwind.

Around an experience.

A must if you are in this region
