Design half & half, overpriced and not always hospitable

I am a green fee player and know the courses in the region very well.
I don't get very clever with the concept and think that Golf Augwil is not a bad course, but it could be better if a few things were done differently.

Place:
Holes 1-4 great. Nice layout, pleasant atmosphere, aircraft noise is not as annoying as you might think due to the proximity to the airport.
Holes 5-7 unfortunately not so nicely laid out due to the topography. Long run from green 4 to tee 5, hole 5 is annoying: the tee shot landing zone cannot be seen and the slope of the fairway means that an aggressive drive is also a matter of luck. New with light signal, but slow play de luxe. Too many lost balls here and the second hit is difficult. The green then also the hardest on the course - simply not successful, the hole.
Hole 6 is very good, I like it, but you are completely exhausted after the mountain stage from green 5 to tee.
Hole 7 a nice par 3, but with stupid routing (way to tee 8 leads back, past tee 7, which holds everything back).
Hole 8 exciting and risk / reward, but the shelter with barking dogs can be very disturbing.
Hole 9 beautiful, par 3 at the end is just a matter of taste.

Place condition:
Tea boxes well cared for to ok.
Fairways unfortunately with moderate drainage, either rock-hard in summer or muddy from autumn or after rain.
When the greens are healthy, the best in the semi-public squares around Zurich. Rolls fast and true, well cared for. Green 5 always in the shade and therefore a little slower.

Range / Pros:
Good system and balls (still) ok. Practice green ok. Short play facility poor, bunker empty, weak pitching green.
Pros: one good and motivated, the other a nice guy, but with a uniform concept and a babbler (sorry, that's the truth).
Trackman and winter training indoor possible. Family mood.

Reception:
Two ladies very nice, one makes you feel like you are not welcome and always draws a flunsch.
Incomprehensible: Reception is not manned all day (even in summer), some tea time bookings for guests are only possible until the afternoon, which means they miss out on income. You can (I think) pay in cash in the restaurant and in a mailbox with an envelope, but every time it is a bigger action to organize.
Weekends can only be reserved by telephone for guests (WHY ?? -> PC Caddy). Completely incomprehensible with the low occupancy of the space.
Dogs are Tuesday / Thursday. allows what's great.

Clubhouse:
A tent for the restaurant, containers for toilets / showers / cloakrooms. Not very cozy and looks like an eternal temporary solution. I know building is expensive, but as a guest I can complain;).

Conclusion:
I can't understand why this club reacts to guests with a sometimes restrictive attitude, although the space is poorly occupied and the clubhouse / restaurant are simply below average. Had some unpleasant conversations when registering for the first time or booking off-peak times (in midsummer, with little occupancy and daylight until late in the evening).

Therefore, and because of the very high green fees, only a 3 out of 5 for me.
CHF 80 for 9 holes at the weekend is simply too much for this course.

Hope you change that when it is economically possible for you. Winterberg is always full and is 10 minutes away. Augwil would have to adjust the price here and work on the attitude of individual employees.

Great place, very good greenkeepers and pros

Play since this year regularly on this great golf course. Fairways and greens are in all weather in very good condition which speaks for the Greenkeeeper. The course itself is not easy to play with plenty of biotope and enough bunker to make the golf course Augwil challenging for every level. Can fully recommend the place.

In addition, I would also like to highlight the two pros who have advanced on the highest level and very motivated schools and even me as "unteachable". This in individual lessons as well as in group lessons.

Challenging 9 holes

Golfing over Zurich on a beautiful summer day, with a view of the Alps and the airport region... not priceless. But good and easy in Augwil feasible. An exciting 9-hole course, with manicured fairways and great greens, lots of water and out and (still) simple infrastructure. I enjoyed playing there.
