Nice course, enjoyable and good value

The undulating fairways were a surprise and made for some interesting lies... they also made driving the buggy more like a rally than a stroll in the park but that just added to the fun. The course had been flooded out the day before but you wouldn't know it as it was in great condition. Every hole was interesting but the bunkers needed to be avoided.

The lady in the pro shop was very welcoming. Will come back soon...

Parkland course with lots of history

After registering in the pro shop, we were invited in and given a great welcome. The employee was very cordial and we learned that we play in the first golf club that was founded with an 18-hole course in the world. The relaxed and funny way made you want to go around.

The golf shop is well stocked, unfortunately we couldn't get a logo ball or a birdie book. But then the explanation came, a week ago youth competitions were held here and the participants bought everything the club offered. All logo balls and more, so forgive me ;-)

The very small putting green (two holes) in front of the clubhouse and another one behind the clubhouse are not much, but we prefer to play on the course.

The condition of the course was very good, only from hole 10 all bunkers were declared ground under repair and relief was given without penalty. The reason for this measure was not recognizable, but what the heck. The fairways and greens weren't dried up and the greens are fast, however, the greens were worked on by the greenkeepers during the round and therefore got a little "worse", but still fair and doable. The waves on the fairways regularly cause inclines. In addition, there is the hilly terrain, trees and bunkers. So a challenge, but absolutely fair. Our "beginner" got along well and played her best round ever. Balls next to the fairways were easy to find and so there were few losses. There was no signature hole for me, but many very nice holes.

After the round we had a drink in the restaurant, which was ok in terms of price. This time we didn't bother about the topic of "food", so we can't write anything about it.

This course also receives a recommendation from us, so we would play it again.

Oh yes, by the way, we learned that the waves on the square date back to the time when jute was cultivated, since the plants are cultivated in a similar way to asparagus. So everything with a lot of history.

Beautiful parkland course

The above wavy fairways (sometimes along, sometimes across) are extremely unusual and give the place a special touch. Condition of the fairways was good, greens very good (as of June 2019). I really liked the layout. Definitely worth a round...

Beautiful domestic Course

Another golf course in Scotland is already in more than 140 years old.
This is a gently undulating parkland course meanders through a small forest. Very many different fairways, with raised and lowered greens. A few blind Teeshots where a bell has to be beaten and to give the following players a sign that the web is free. The fairways are partly extremely wavy, which can also lead to one or other difficult circumstances. Although the course was extremely well attended, they had let us play and everyone was extremely friendly.
