Situated on the banks of the River Suir estuary, Faithlegg Golf Club offers a distinguished parkland experience set within a historic 18th-century estate near Waterford. Designed by renowned Irish architect Paddy Merrigan and opened in 1993, the course is defined by mature woodland and gently rolling terrain. Merrigan’s signature design traits—undulating greens and strategically placed water hazards—provide a consistent test of precision. The layout builds towards a dramatic climax with a memorable finishing stretch from the 16th to the 18th hole. Off the course, the clubhouse is housed in a tastefully restored coach house, where the Red Cedar Lounge offers panoramic views, complementing the extensive leisure facilities of the wider resort.

I really did not enjoy this course, poorly laid out, very wet and very badly maintained. The staff were very rude and I did not feel welcome at all. Definitly not one I would recommend

The previous reviews would have kept us from playing the course. It's a good thing that there are more up-to-date reviews at GolfNow.
The course is in good condition, has exciting, interesting holes and is fun, also because it is not that difficult (it's also nice when you reach the greens "in regulation", without 250m tees).
In any case, the course does not have to hide behind Wexford, Waterford Castle or Tramore. Worthy of praise is the good overall impression, which is unfortunately not always the case with courses belonging to hotels (a few containers for tea should be set up, then perhaps not so many of them would be lying around broken on the tees).

Here we played a round for the first time in 1997. The course was still young at that time, opened in 1993.
Patrick Merrigan - who passed away in January 2016 - designed it. Faithlegg House was not open yet.
Our notes from this round are very sparse, as this time.
The course is fine, with some exciting holes. There are holes with blind teashots, but also not visible greens if the tee is too short. He is one of the easier ones.
Care and maintenance is fine, but we had him in better memory.
