Characteristics
The Lienz Dolomites were the inspiration for naming the 36-hole championship course in the picturesque town of Lavant in East Tyrol. Yet contrary to all expectations and what the name may imply, the golf course is on level ground and harmoniously embedded in the sun-drenched Drau valley.
The even lying course offers two distinctive 18-hole course versions in a wonderful natural landscape. The long fairways are fringed by picturesque lake scenery, sloping greens call for precise chipping and curving, undulating greens make putting a real challenge. The practice area with open and covered tee boxes, pitching areas, sand bunkers and chipping and putting greens provides great training facilities.

Spent 10 days in Dolimiten Suites.
Can absolutely recommend the place, the rooms, the spa, the pools, the restaurant and bar.
The golf courses are great and each of the 4 nine hole parts very different.
If you want to play without the wind blowing, start early in the day...
There is hiking, biking etc. in the sorroundings as well...

Overrun and overwhelmed

Played in June. Of the four 9-hole courses, only three were open. The starter management was hopelessly overwhelmed. The courses were completely overcrowded; anyone with a handicap could play, and the longest round took 5.5 hours. When I pointed out the problem with the tee times, a short, fat, grumpy man became really rude and presumptuous.
The best part was the mountain panorama. But I've seen that elsewhere too.
